Just keep in mind that there are lcds and then there are lcds. A cheap screen can have beaming narrow view angles and horrible contrast + color.

Money talks and bullsh.. walks.

Viewing angles rarely are an issue in laptops due to their rather small size. On the subject: Give your local computer repair shops a try, they might have a similar one with a broken motherboard. It is much easier to change the whole lid than only the screen. Your local net auction could also have some "repairable" ones which could do. The insurance companies might also have broken ones with an intact screen/lid.

On top of that.

$250 to have it done or pay $100 for me doing it by my self.  Hummm... :headscratch:

My brother in law had his MBP screen replaced with a non-apple part that was 200 bucks cheaper and the difference is like night and day. Move your head at all from the screen and colors fade. He regreted not buying the original afterwards. Of course some regular laptop may have a crappy screen to start with in which case it makes no difference.

apple uses ips-screens, the regular cheap lappies usually have crappy tn-panels.

One severely cracked Dell laptop screen fixed!

Cost to repair by yours truly: approximately $100.

Have it fixed at a computer shop: + $250.

Cost to be self-sufficient: Pricless!
