Aircraft parked on ramps and in hangars
« on: January 19, 2012, 10:09:27 AM »
:noid :old: I think that one of the things we all would like to see in this great, great on line game are other options which we as players can do! How about "parked" aircraft on ramps, with a damage point awarded, of say, 200 points. It would add atmosphere to the game, as well as give players an added incentive for more fighter-bomber missions. Aircraft destroyed on the ground would "respawn" after 15 minutes, just like a hangar. During WW2, on April 16th, 1945, there were 752 German aircraft destroyed on the ground in one single day. Just think, a row of B-17's, G4M's, JU-88's, ME-109's or "Zeke's" for you to shoot at instead of gun positions or GV's, neither of which have damage points awarded for hits that I am aware of. I know this post should be in the "Wish" list of the forums, but when it is moved, I know that it will get read by Roy! :devil

Well I would like it for the looks but not for score, score would give even more reason for vulch and vuuuulch.

Maybe no score evolved and also make some animations instead of the plane becomeing a fireball, make it like when you destroy a bulding you have another version of the bulding but all damaged in ruin, make the same with the aircraft parked, that would give a scramble feeling.

Who knows, maybe this could even lead to have animations for the shot down player aircraft and new smoke and fire animations beeing developed for all the hangars and such instead of uniform fire and smoke.

This would be great, but it would be better in FSO.

I think it would make good eye candy, but what purpose would it serve otherwise?

It seems as though there are two crowds to consider when playing this game, the realists, and the adrenaline seeking score potatos. I have to say, that it is an intriguing idea but I have to agree on the "no points awarded" for shooting them down. Maybe for each plane shot down that is parked on the pad would increase the time a hanger, radar, etc. would be down for and of course it would have parameters so the vultures would stay away not being able to do repeat damage. Once they're down, there down until everything is back up again. I think it's worth some consideration.

Or maybe you'd have the option to tower into the aircraft parked on the pad, and taxi them into the hangers were they would become safe

well I think it could even add more of an airfield feeling too, when you take off and see all those parked aircraft on the base, it gives more of an Airfield feeling feeling would be nice to have some life on every base too. I can think of this. not flahing and flashing

not flashing:
Airfield - some people marching (including in town) a few aircraft with some opened parts in the field (like fixing an engine) some fuel trucks moving once in a while.

Vehicle base - cars moving from bunkers to that big hangar, troops marching, empty cars parked arround.

Port - same thing of the vbase basically but the troops would have another skin  :D
flashing

basically scramble feeling so troops actually running, (the alarm already gives a great feeling) couple jeeps running around...

Anything that Aces High could do to improve the "realism" to the game would be an incentive for other people to join AH, which would benifit all of us who love this game!

Would be a nice add to see a few sitting on the field and be able to blow them up.  We have ships that sit in port that provide little else but eye candy and target practice.

Would be interesting for scenarios too.

Why not give them a small perk value?  It's not like you can't toolshed an undefended town if all you want are a few perks.
