Suggestions for Storch
« on: January 25, 2012, 07:35:17 PM »
Because of the force bomber designation, no one will fly it who doesn't want to hurt their bomber rank. It needs a separate designation of observer. Also it would be nice to have the external view enabled for better visability and avoidance of enemy aircraft.

Bomber designation is fine for Orphan aircraft like the Storch and C-47.  Either that or add it to vehicles.

you will find the game is much more enjoyable when you don't worry about scores.

omg upping a storch hurts my score?? *whine whine whine

I agree 110% with Silver, sooner the better - even with a score of 1 there's 25 thats going to whip you like a redheaded step child.

Initial observations on the storch:  Brilliant addition.

I had a hoot flying over TT last night.  Even dodged a 109 for a little bit flying through the city streets. The only thing I would say is that the pilot dies instantly if the plane is hit.

I would ask that whatever box designates the pilot in the cockpit be either a bit smaller or a bit more resilient.  I understand this may create a bit of a "gamy" circumstance.  I was hit with everything from .303s to 30mm last night, regardless, puuf dead.

The storch does not change the face of the battle IMHO to merit the pilot being instantly killed.  It would be a bit more fun and challenging if wounded or missing pieces.  Did anyone else have this experience, or did I just run into the Annie Oakleys last night?

Dirtdart I think you had some bad luck, or your pilot needs to toughen up  :lol I engaged numerous storches around TT and other places last night and they were a devil to bring down from MGs on the ground and in the air. I engaged many and one I finally got with a center main gun hit after expending most of my MG ammo.

That thing is a blast to fly also. Great fun marking OPFOR GVs with something other than rockets that are tough to use effectively and do not really "mark" well for my buddies.

You're having trouble seeing out of the Storch? It's a flying window.

As for pilot survivability... it's a flying window.

I think the Storch should be classified as a "gv", since it is saw more usage out in the field right next to the ground forces and not so much from airfields.  It was towed on trailers quite a bit (w/ wings folded), and perhaps just as much as it was flown to an area.  Plus, it is going to be used more dominantly at vehicle bases rather than airfields because many people will still up the IL-2's, Hurricane IID's, etc, instead of the Stork to investigate what is making the airfield flash, where as the v-base is %100 relying on the Stork.  My 2 cents.  :)

When I hit you with the 50cal top gun on my m4 it was a direct burst to the cockpit. You were at Tree top level. I could swear your Pilot was flipping me off :t

True that the visibility is great for looking down with that overhead wing but sucks for looking up even with that small sunroof.
