Bf 109G-2 Wilhelm Schilling 9./Jg54
« on: February 03, 2012, 05:13:34 PM »
I started work on my next skin. Another G-2, this time an aircraft of the famous "Green Hearts" Jg 54. Paint colors are RLM 70, 71, and 76. Enjoy.

Great picture Beau!  :aok

If you have more of this plane please post them.

Looks like I need to change the wing pattern and add  black crosses.

That's really good, but is there any way to tone down the "Matte" finish a bit?

I havent adjusted the material file from stock. The camera angles do not show the reflections.

That is a very cool scheme which I've hoped someone would do at some point. Looking forward of it.

The default material file is pretty shiny. If you haven't modified it then you should probably cool down on the weathery thing you've got going on.
Also, RLM 65 was used in conjunction with 70/71 usually and you've got some mapping errors on the engine cowling. Other than that it looks pretty good.

Update: Added squad markings and ID numbers. Also corrected some flaws in the paint lining up and replacing RLM 76 withn 65 (not sure how I forgot to do this the first time). Then I filled the upper wing and fuselage crosses with RLM 70. Finally, I reduced the overall weathering effect.

Thanks for watching.

It's a good start, but the white foggy "noise" layer is too obvious.

Just so you know, we already do have a similar one:

Other than that, look forward to seeing the finished version!
