I'm not going to predict her future but I don't believe that public humiliation is the best parenting technique to use on a teenager.

I have my suspicions that this is a bit though.

I've raised a kid and he turned out pretty good despite my inadequacies.

I dunno... My parents are firm believers in this guy's ideas... probably 80% of my friends have been paid to do basic sh** like emptying dishwasher, mowing lawn, making beds, etc

With 6 people in the house, which is a little under 1400 square feet, it gets crowded. And dirty. 4 lunches need to be made a day, 4 beds made, 4 coats hung up, 8 boots/shoes put away... Honestly. Couple of my friends have done this same sort of thing. I think it's because so many parents either don't have Facebook, or don't friend their kids. If they did, they'd get a faceful. Ridiculous language, slandering and verbal abuse of adult figures in their lives are only a few. The whole deal with me getting Facebook was that I had to have my parents as friends. I tried blocking them, and had it taken away for 2 weeks I think? It was two years ago, so I don't remember.

Anyways, kudos to this guy for actually paying attention to what goes on his daughter's Facebook wall. Eventually she's gonna HAVE to get a job, and the company/hirer is gonna check out her profile, see that note, and go "hmmmmm, best candidate? I DON'T THINK SO. The door, Madam?"

Then she'll just complain about "it's so unfair, blablabla"

Rant=done. Lemme know if any of it made sense :D

I saw the video on Facebook... I have but one question. What idiot will discipline a teenage girl using his .45 cal sidearm? This seemed as much about the guy's rage at being ridiculed by his kid on a public forum as about teaching the kid about respect and responsibility. Seriously, a counter post stating, "if you think it sucks to be you today, wait until tomorrow", would have been sufficient. Then, deal with the kid privately. But, blowing 7 holes in the laptop was more than a little beyond the pale...

How long before CPS and the local Sheriff are ringing this character's doorbell?

My guess is that he won't, seeing as he never harmed anything but his own property.

I'm not referring to his property, I'm thinking about the harm he may have done to his kid... What if the kid is so demeaned, so embarrassed, that she swallows a bottle of whatever her dad should be taking?

In a few years and with parents like that, I wouldn't be surprised to see this guys daughter working a dance pole with c-section scars.
So that's how porn stars are made.....

Others that she’d get pregnant and become drug addicted because of the emotional damage. She actually asked me to go on Facebook and ask if there was anything else the victim of a laptop-homicide could do besides stripping because all the posts seem to mention that particular job and she wasn’t so keen on that one.

You have to be stupid to think money is of such great importance. Shooting the laptop (+/- $300), his daughter understanding that she needs to respect her elders and that she has it easy compared to them (so she needs to work hard), priceless.
