WX and Field Capture

I have yet to find how to create a cloud layer, and I'm also looking for any alternate ways to capture a field besides with drunks?

I'm not sure if the ability to upload the cloud file is available in custom arenas yet, but there are dot commands for CM's to upload them for special events.

As far as alternative ways to capture a field, you're pretty much stuck with the current system. You can, however, change the number of troops needed, and can also change the percentage of town that needs to be destroyed before the white flag goes up.

I did see the ability to reduce the number of drunks, thanks for the confirmation on that.

What's the simplest way to make anti air at a field impotent?

Go to the weapons tab of the arena settings and change the top three (AutoLethality...) settings to the minimum. They'll still fire, you might still get hit, but it mainly just effect and eye candy instead of real damage.

I can't seem to capture a field with drunks in a custom arena.

Is there a setting I'm forgetting to check?

No, it isn't a setting.

You need the field maps for avasml to understand, or, use .det f01twn 2 to see the town building blow up. Then kill the guns and drop troops.

Changing what's needed for capturing a field requires a couple of settings.

* Town percentage down - defaults (I think) to 75%; you can change it to whatever you want, but still need all ack down.
* Maproom hardness - defaults to 10 troops; hardness is in pounds of explosives, troops are "ordinance" like bombs, so as you increase/decrease the hardness you increase/decrease the number of troops required.

Along with this, you can change the "win the war" settings so the map (and thus the arena) won't reset. For FSO events we set it so you'd need 1000% of your bases and 1000% of the other country's bases to reset - which makes it impossible to "win the war".

That's absolutely right, and good advice, but I happened to stumble into his arena the night of his OP and saw that he was using avasml. The frontline airfields are all custom. There is no separate town0 and the town buildings are tents etc on the base, along with a map room. Without the field maps, he will need that detonation dot command to find them, especially for V10 and V27.

roger on the % settings,and I understand the rest about custom maps having a different town, but perhaps apart from that, I was seeing the drunks hit the ground and disappear.


does THAT make sense? does the ack need to be down to enable them to stay alive on landing?
