Really? Any source or literature?

December 1944, B-29 lost due to being rammed by a Ki-27 from the MIAF.

Yes there are a few fighter units that flew in Mancheria (afraid of the russian's so they were stationed there, for example seoul) in fact over 100,000 japanese troops stayed in Korea/Mancheria because of it during the war to garrison incase of an invasion by Russian's in the far east.

Russian's did boast quite a large garrison near Mancheria, with T-34s, Yak-3s and Migs along with IL-2s so it wasn't like it was undefended on both sides.

If you look up vladivostok on google maps you can see just how close the Russians were to the Japanese.
changchun was one of the major Japanese defensive bases along with the HQ of the Mancherian defense for the region.

From a maneuverability standpoint no other fighter in WWII would come close to it, not even the Ki-43 or A6M.

I'm sure that several biplane fighters had a smaller turning radius. I'm sure that most of them lost on the roll rate though.

Seems like you can score a great number of victories in just about any aircraft as long as you're fighting Russians.

The number of victories claimed by the Japanese during the Nomonhan incident is greatly exaggerated.

Given what little I remember of the Battles of Khalkhin Gol, I do remember Ki-27's claiming hundreds of I-16s shot down - one thing that was stated was
the Japanese were very impressed with the I-16's armor, some would take hundreds of 7.7's and still fly.

I have a book on Japanese Army Air Aces, and it goes into pretty good detail on the subject, I do recall the Japanese got their tail whipped at this skirmish, which was one of the reasons they left so many troops around Mongolia and Manchuria.

Japanese claimed 1340 aircraft destroyed in the air and 30 on ground (source: Francillon). Soviets on the other hand said that they only had 450 aircraft in the theatre.

Based on a table here: http://www.warbirdforum.com/russloss.htm, Soviets lost 207 aircraft in combat.

So the Japanese losses of 120 are still less than what the Soviets lost but it is pretty clear today that Soviet losses of over 1000 didn't happen.

Pretty sure a La7 can accelerate out of range long before those puny 7.7s have any real chance at destroying it.

Just because they can does not always mean they are safe...

I love to fly average (or below average)  planes and shred 5 ENYs.  Unfortunately this means sometimes when I get to where I'm headed the war has gone somewhere else.  I don't recommend this for those consumed with score and stats.

A C202, for instance, can drop in from above.  If 250 out or less = does not take long at all.  I'm just say'n.  :D

It's inclusion would make some of the scenarios more realistic, esp if we had a 'fly'n tigers' based one.

True.  Will be difficult to recruit for the Japanese side.
