Probably a "you had to be there" moment for most, but still . . .
While in LTAR we were once trying like heck to take this vbase. With quite a few stout defenders, we weren't doing too terribly well. We had the VHs leveled a couple times, but between the survivors on the ground and air cons coming in, we just couldn't seem to take it.
We finally had two goons circling as we tried to finish off the last tank on the ground, but we knew the VHs were about to pop . . . and pop they did. Out comes 4-5 osti's firing every which way. As we drop a few bombs, a couple of high air cons show up, and in short order both goons are going down and I'm about to start cursing our poor luck again.
Suddenly the base is captured, and the auto ack starts shooting the ostis and at red cons. And here's Mac's best deadpan voice . . . "Aw, man, they had a goon parked at the maproom." With Mac at the controls, of course.
He never seemed to take much seriously, especially not himself.
We had already been missing him for a while, and it's sad beyond words to find out he won't be returning to us this time.
