All those 38s missing parts, must of been the 80th FS

LOL the 80th is a PTO squadron.  If you got 80th 38s, you were in the wrong spot.  But you've gotta expect that from hair dryer pilots :)

8 428th FS 38s got into a brawl with 15 109K4s and 8 190D9s.  It took that many to get us! :aok

Glad someone had fun. I was stuck with a group of guys afraid to get in there and mix it up I think.  I'm down there fighting 3 Doras while the rest of my group watched from 27K  :furious

That's a good thing, I was cruising my 262 around 15-20k and never seen enemy fighters until the very end, most were either above the Ozone layer - not to mention for the third time now they ran bombers NOE and unescorted (even after a few restrictions were placed on the 262s).

This surprised me based on the first coordination frame, secondly the allied Jabos had no fighter escort what so ever and coming in at 10k, however spits were coming in from 28k and tempests.

Good times. Think the allies got schooled. Near the end of the frame we had only three jugs left and we ran into an entire gaggle of 190s. Got separated from my wingmen and tied up with 2 190s. Was holding my own but completely defensive...then the other 5 showed up. First life was ended near 40 town by a 262 I believe. Didn't kill a lot of the bad guys (maybe 3) but my .50s were imbedded in quite a few 190s and 109s. Was too fun!

Well I enjoyed myself.  The reception for the allied pilots went well.

I'm curious about the big furball that wen't down in the north, I was coming back from hitting the bombers and wanted to see what was going on - someone said it was a massive furball and luftwaffe was losing.

Our first flight we ran into a group of 38's.  All was going well and they were being quickly dispatched.  A second group of 38's with low Temptest support then came in and took out half our squadron.  We reupped and regrouped with the remaining planes and then ran into a gaggle of Spitfire XIVs, Typhoons, P47's, and P51's.  I had a group of 8 on me before I went down, and everyone else was running into something similar.

I got sent on a 2 by 2 recon mission, Bone and Redbull going to cover the north and myself and Deja flying south - I am not sure what all headed south, but only thing we ran into was a squadron of B-26s on the deck without escort.

I came back to rearm - Bone was pinged up and lost one engines oil - and nursed the 262 back home, Myself Redbull and Deja then went towards the massive furball and didn't spot anything - either we arrived late and everyone was heading home or we missed them completely.
Given the alt the piston fighters were operating, most likely we were under everything - think we topped around 20k.

Axis were convinced the allies were defeated since 16 were in flight while the rest were in the tower, but sure enough allies waited till the last minute to launch an all out raid - we watched the numbers grow to 50/50 in flight.

We were running a race track around 40, one point I gave Bone a heart attack screaming "OMG they are all in front of me, buffs and fighters all heavy" - it was a joke - I was returning from A114 after checking some airfields out on recon.
Eventually a lone 28k Spitfire alerted every fighter to the 8.11.1 sector, I dropped from 20k to around 10k and ran into an entire squadron of 38s heavy diving towards A40, after a few turns - a set of Typhoons and tempest's came in - then P-47s ... then P-51s

Every 2-3 minutes a new set came in and a pretty nice furball erupted, I was lucky I looked at my fuel gauge, I was down to 5 minutes and 15 taters left, I didn't bother to re-arm.

I will say the view in a 262 is near terrible with that cloud setting, you can't see anything and far to easy you can fly over and not notice anything.

At one point i was a lone Spit14 at about 28k over the 102 to 103 area, and had 5 or so 190s scaring the hell out of me, and i think a 109K4, i started to fight a couple of them, and luckily some P47 jumped it, a little later i had a good 1 on 1 with a 190D around 102, where i lost part of my stabilizer, was very fun all in all
