auto-film bug
« on: April 24, 2012, 06:16:47 PM »
This is not a major issue but it should be put on the to-do list:  When reviewing a sortie that was recorded with "auto-film sorties" enabled, the first sound heard is the landing gear - but not the engine startup sound.  Just recently happened to check external view at the beginning of a sortie and saw why:

Sortie at 0:00.

As the sortie begins, the landing gear starts to come down and the engine starts (but no engine start sound is played).

Plane starts rolling as engine sound begins.

This happens for all planes using auto-film.  It also sometimes occurs on edited films, in which the drones of a bomber have smoke coming out of their engines and the props start rotating - even though the lead buff's prop is already spinning.
"Then out spake brave Horatius, the Captain of the gate:
To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."

I have noticed that engine start-up sounds and exhaust effects are delayed in GV films as well.

It's easy to work around though.
