gunner score means something
« on: April 27, 2012, 12:56:53 AM »
it seems to me like safegunning has no rewards. heres my proposal.

if someone has a higher rank in manned guns, they can commandeer a gun from someone who has a lower gunnery score.

so basically if you have someone who cant shoot worth a damn, and you can, you can take over that gun. i think it would help especially on CVs when you have people trying to figure out how to work the guns during the thick of battle. somtimes its the noobs on the 5''ers that get the CVs sunk.

Or..if a field is being deacked and someone with bad gunnery skills is in a manned gun but isnt doing much to defend the field..why shouldnt he be vulnerable to being taken over by someone who can accually hit something?

if we can boot people's control of a CV with a higher score, why not in manned guns?

No fair. If you can get booted for being a kak shot i'd never get to aimlessly blat off thousands of rounds and hit nought but wild blue yonder :joystick:

because then nobody would ever learn how to use them, they'd always be getting kicked out of them right when the action was picking up.

I was rtb'ing after vulching a base with another player, he was in an a20, i think.  I told him to get low on the ground as the 88's were firing at him, he replied something like "naw this guys aint that good" as the shells were exploding far away. 3 or 4 seconds later 2 shells explode right next to him, he just yelled the "holly crap" then dove for the ground.  we both started laughing.  most guys cant hit crap with the 88's myself included but sometimes somebody does get lucky.

I'd like to see

Carrying Troops, Carrying Supplies, Gunning (air to air), Gunning (gnd to air), Gunning (gnd to gnd/sea), Gunning (naval) all carry rewards

with rankings related to

Capture, Kill ratios/totals, (air, vehicles) Object destroyed ratios/totals, Object rebuilt ratio/totals (supplies)

I'd like to apply to the following

Storch, M3, Jeep, Sdkfz251, C47, LVT2, All ground and ship guns, all "joined" gunner positions.

The new classification would replace "Ship/Ground Gunners"  with "Artilery and Logistics" and be required for any Experten aspiring to No.1 overal top spot in rankings.

Thus recognising the AH contingent that support gameplay in the "less glamourous" aspect of combat within the MA's

tilt has it there is no point in having gunning if its not ranked anywhere
make another group for it and i think adding supply running to that group is a great idea

one thing they could add with this is getting the perks for troops and supplies done better

you get some but it should be a more standard thing you run supplies you get this period

and if you get 9 troops in and then someone else has one sneak in at the last min they shouldn't get all the perk points and credit for taking that base it should be a assist on the person with less troops just like kills work

but see, there is. the pure joy of ruining a vulcher's sortie. It's my specialty for the last couple years. killing people with 37mm field guns. I enjoy it quite a bit.

but how would you like it if you got credit toward your ranking for doing so

Guns are limitted in number like CV's are. So there is president for giving priority to higher ranked players. Hmmm, not sure how I feel about this though. there are a lot of guns. I would really hate to get kicked out just because someone was better than me. So I would say no at a V-base or air field, but yes on a CV.

I wouldnt mind seeing gunnery added to overall rank, dont see why not, especially when overall rank is only useful for one thing ... CV control.

seems to me that gunners should have a better than average appreciation for CV ops; 5" gunners for defence, and 8" gunners for attack. I swear most of the people who grab CV control have no clue about SB arc of fire, how ship battles work or even have their vspawns turned on in the clipboard. they just want a non-turning CV because they havent worked out what that flappy thing at the back of the tail does :bhead
