I grew up drinking Schlitz, Old Style, Pabst, beers that were very good until they decided to mass market them and they changed the formulas to make them last longer. Thats when American beer went to Hell, with exceptions like Lone Star, Leinenkugels, Augsburger. But Old Milwaukee, Drurys, Old Chicago, Bud, Millers, Hamms, Old Style, was the swill I cut my teeth on, "dont even mention Coors". When mass production became the order of the day Yank Beers went right to hell quality-wise. In Europe the people there take their drink serious. They dont care about commercials or what all the other rednecks think. They demand high quality brew.
Now America can compete with them. Even Schlitz went back to their old recipe and its pretty good, it was my Old Mans beer. But the micros put out some amazing brew. If I was still on the bottle I'd probably stay with made in America nowadays. Unless I was at NASCAR with 40,000 people who all have tans on their left forearms. Then I'd drink Bud, spit chew, and wear a John Deer cap.
