I try to drink mainly what my friend (an excellent brewer) makes. If not that, I fall back on guiness black lager or some blue moon. I love me some wheat ale.

Where's Von with his "Dirty Dog" beer? Not much of a drinker anymore,
but would like to try his beer.

Bud light Platinum, its a rather new beer on the market, and i just happened to get my first six pack this weekend, the alcohol content is increased over your normal Bud Light longneck, and the taste is very good, i would recommend it to y'all if you have not tried it

Awesome!!

Bud Light with more corn or rice added for a higher ABV content.

Wish I could have thought of that

Just went back into brewing mode.

Had to revamp some things in the basement to make brewing easier.  :aok

Not much for anything lighter than a Lager Ale. Budweiser makes a decent beer, but honestly y'all should try "Flat tire" or "Spotted Cow" from Wisconsin. They are really good as far as a locally brewed beer is concerned. Although I have to admit I am rather biased against Bud in that  instead of being an American company it's now a German company making beer in America. It's a bias due to bud  being sold (like harley) as "Made in America". As for the Platinum.. next time I'll try it.

WTF is a Lager Ale?  It's either one or the other

They are Belgian, not German

Bud Platinum is very smooth and I love it, but It can never replace my Stella Artois.

Both made by AB InBev and , virtually, the same beer (with regard to style).

How can you tell the difference?

You have to serve them warm to get the subtle differences in petroleum taste.

Back when I was on the ba-ba I thought Bud sucked, "unless it was free". Then Bud light came out and that wasnt bad, "tho light beers werent my thing". Course in my formative years I would guzzle any kind of swill, then, I joined the service and went overseas and was ruined for life. Europe is the place for fine brews. Most of all Germany, but every Euro country has fine brews. The thing is cheap swill simply wont make it in Europe where the residents have high standards for their beer. Even the Turkish Beer was fine, brewed under German License.

When I came home almost all the Yank beers had their formulas changed for mass production and they tasted like pee. Even Old Style, Pabst, Schlitz...ect were now terrible so I started hanging at German Beer houses, or places where a fine foreign was on tap. Now we have so many great micros theres no reason to buy foreign. But I miss those afternoons in the Hun Biergarten slurping pints of Schorr bier.

It is not even really that they have a "bad" taste, insomuch as they lack taste.

It is by design, though.   Very bland and boring, but good  and hydrating for when you want to drink a case while mowing the lawn.  :rofl

I haven't tried Platinum yet, heard that it has a little more Alc Content than Bud Light and is a tad more heavy.

Obviously the American domestic beers are low quality, but they serve a purpose.  If you are going to be tail gating or drinking at a crowded bar, usually a light domestic beer is a good choice.  I have never seen anyone at a tail gate drinking anything besides a domestic beer and if there was a party that was drinking something more "sophisticated" I would raise an eyebrow.  Same with a bar.  Being "that guy" who is drinking some import wearing his sweater with his collared shirt poking out of the top is not really the image you want to be portraying, unless you are at one of those kinds of bars.

Exceptions: Old chicago, etc.
