I'm sure nobody has told you yet...
« on: May 25, 2012, 08:18:15 AM »
... But you darbar is well broken.  I'm fed up with flying in somewhere with no darbar only to be jumped by 2 20k ponies/hogs/jugs.

I can only assume no one has brought it to your attention or you would have fixed it long ago.

Well now you know FIX IT!!

LOL!!! it is easier when you pay attention to your surroundings. My guess is the bar showed up you just never saw it.

oh and as I'm sure nobody told you yet..... but demanding HTC do something NEVER works.  :D

Fugi, I've seen the darbar suddenly appear once I've crossed into the "empty" sector. I've also seen it suddenly appear in my sector once the enemy crossed into it. I know this because I could see their plane in the distance (still out of icon range) and had my map open. Sometimes the darbar doesn't show up until they cross the radar ring of the base I'm near.

I'm not sure if it's the arena setting for "range based sector counters" that is either not disabled or the distance is set too short, but it is definitely an issue.

I was at 35k feet and could hear a me163 that had climbed up to me but no dar bar.

It didn't show until I was chasing him back down through 10k feet only to watch him bail outside of proximity kill range.

I did get a 163 a few minutes later on the same mission.

Lol cheers for the tip but my SA is fine.. Its the darbar that is broken and not just on a single flight but every flight for the last few months.

I know demanding things from HTC is never gonna work but they wont listen to whispers or normal talking so some times you need to shout.

I know HTC is probably too busy curing AIDS or cancer or something, to fix the problems in their own backyard but they need to at least hire someone to trim the hedges from time to time  :aok

WOW! your just going to town looking to get on their good side. Now your telling them how to run their business, another big no-no.

I don't seem to have these issues with dar. I am almost NEVER surprised by another con. I have more trouble finding dots that dar says are there, but that is my own poor eye site more than anything else. Maybe you have a connection issue, losing data packets so not getting updated. How often do you get booted/switch to UDP? What kind of ping do you have, are you running on a wireless network?

Isn't the a cutoff of a number of planes required to be in the sector for it to show any darbar at all?

I know a single for sure doesn't show.

It used to be (probably still is) that it only takes one enemy plane to display the sector counter (darbar) once he's above the sector counter alt, and there needs to be at least two friendlies for you to see a friendly darbar in a sector.

I see the same issue quite often (see my previous post).

Darbar has always shown single cons. It's just that you can't see the (green) darbar if it's only being made by you, because you can't see your own darbar.

As to the OP, yes it stil happens to me, though not as frequently as before. Flying into a sector with minor darbar and suddenly being surrounded by lot's of ponies at 15k.  :headscratch:

The more players on the map the longer it takes to update everyone's position. It might just be fast aircraft with slow updates.

Film might help if there is actually a bug.

I've seen it happen in EW with only a handful of people in there, flying slow planes.

Hmmm Don't remember telling them how to run their business aside from fixing it. That aside I guess was kinda harsh with how I worded it due to frustration with this ongoing problem and for that i apologize to HTC but the fact is there is definitely a problem with the dar bar. And I am not the only one to notice, I have seen alot of people commenting on it.

Can we post films that show the clipboard? if so I will get some evidence when I hop on tonight. It's not an issue in regards to a lot of people in the MA as my timezone I only really fly when there are 60 or 70 people on.

Its funny but one of the things I posted to the wishlist was to make the darbar not so reliable.  It seemed to me a little bogus to have such good coverage out at sea, and I think it makes it a little too easy to find bombers.  You can pretty much triangulate where they are by watching as they move from sector to sector.  At the same time a CV group can pull up to a base and shell it for hours without a peep out of the "country wide civil defense" or whatever the analogy for the dar bar is.  I think a little uncertainty is good for the game, even if it is not intentional.

Nah, peeps have limited time to play. Buffs have guns and probably alt, no need for them to be cloaked too.

And yes, the darbar is somewhat unreliable. For a couple years now, many threads on it.
You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.

telling them to hire more people has nothing to do with run the company, but hey, what ever.

As to my questions, what kind of connection do you have?

Mine is very stable, with a low ping. I rarely ever get a disco. My computer crashes for all of my disco's, but my connection is solid. As I said I can't remember ever seeing what you have mentioned, or what other have mentioned. Maybe that is the common denominator. Crappy connection one night you see abnormalities but your too mad about getting booted to remember the dar issue until later.

Coming on the boards to whine about a problem doesn't normally get you any where. Listing specs and any information that might help diagnose the problem could lead to a solution....if there is one.
