Ki.61 update

The Ki.61 is one of the most underrated planes in the game, IMHO.   Excellent all around maneuverability, good durability and a devastating pair of nose-mounted HO-5 20mm.   Many of the common schemes found on the plane are a poor camo job applied directly over metal, and in the rain and heat of the South Pacific this paint didn't wear well - so this would really let use of the new specularity maps shine, I think.

I hope we will get better ki61 model with 3d update.
Unfortunately, the Ki-61-I-Tei is the most worst performance model in Ki-61 except nose 20mm cannons.
Ki-61-I-Otsu will be good addition for med war south pacific scenarios, and it has better flight performance than I-Tei.
Also I want to see I-Hei which has MG151/20 on the wings. Actually Ki-61 pilots really loved MG151/20 when attacking buffs.

Where is my Ki-100? I still remember Pyro wants to release it in AH beta.

It's a beautiful skin for sure, but not mine.  I found a bunch of Il-2 skins at a site, and was curious if I could hack it up to to fit our bmp's format.  Made by a real master though.  I will use it as inspiration when I try my own after the eventual update, which I hope is soon.

Mine too, although I generally give the P-39 quite a bit of attention, too.

I'm so impressed with the quality of this skin - the metal and weathering details are outstanding:




I did notice HTC's Ki.61 is so old, it is pre-material text file, and the skin is divided into two separate bmp files.   So it is REALLY old, and you can't control the specularity of the skin at all.

Wow! And despite all that, you've still managed to make it look sooooo good!

I can't take credit for anything - it's an IL-2 skin from somebody named RO RONCO.   He has made it available free for personal use.   I was just curious how such beautifully-detailed skin would look in AH. 

I would like to study it and see if I can figure out how he did the paint wear though.

the 61 is usually a great fight, mostly because you have to be pretty good to use it (or die a lot and easily)

When you do yours, you might want to lighten up the colors a bit.  It looks a bit too dark compared to the AH terrain.

i've always had a soft spot for the Ki-61, it was one of the very first aircrafts I can remember flying in FSO/Scenarios.

Unusual since I don't fly it much (not sure why being so high eny its around what kind of aircraft I fly often).

Good aircraft, plenty of maneuverability, but one main sortage: Not adequate engine power

Turns mediocre, climb mediocre, poor speed, excellent dive, poor acceleration, better than average guns, excellent range, mediocre roll, excellent stalls (easy to control), mediocre flaps.

Still an awesome plan.
