Here is another Perk Idea
« on: June 19, 2012, 08:26:05 AM »
How about that all perks are in one account for each player.  Perks you earn from a fighter sortie can be used for GV's, bombers, etc.  That way, if you are a good fighter jock, but not so good in bombers you might actually get a chance to fly a B-29 or AR234.  The same philosophy applies for all disciplines!

Not a bad idea, but why not leave the system the way it is? with little practice one can fly a B-29 or Ar234.

I can certainly see both sides of the argument - leave it the way it is and then players will try harder in a given discipline (GV, Bomber or Fighter) to improve and earn perkies - makes sense.

On the other side, as a participating member in a Bomber oriented squad, there are times we like to put together sorties using different planes or vehicles that some of our newer members are excluded from due to not enough perkies - mainly fun stuff (like putting up a 262 fighter sweep or upping Tigers in a GV theater).

Just looking at alternatives to enhance the overall experience without dramatically altering the game play.

One of the problems is TT, for example I have 10k in fighter perks, 7k in GV perks and 1.5k in Bomber perks.

Its far easier to get fighter perks (in my opinion) vs bomber or GV perks based on overall time per hour (meaning in 1 hour I can get triple the fighter perks vs buff/gv's)

It would be off balance simply because fighter jocks would easily rack up the perks, while a newer player - would struggle getting them, off balancing the system since one could farm for an hour and then up a King Tiger while a newer player gets stuck still trying to get perks.

Its not so much for someone whose a veteran player, opposed to someone new.

Then again I like the idea of interchanging the perks, or even to squadies (I brought this up very long time ago) to allow certain amount of perks to be transfered to another player while they take a hit for transferring (Lets say 200 perks max you lose 50 perks for the transfer).
This allows a veteran player to transfer some perks to a newer player, while he's able to replenish those perks quicker.

Keep them separate.

I laugh when I here folks whine that they can't afford a 262, but instead of taking up a fighter and....I dunno maybe earning some, they sit at the spawn in a GV trying to catch the unsuspecting.

I say that if you don't have enough fighter perks to take a 262, then you probably haven't acquired the skill needed to fly the 262 in an effective manner anyhow. Take up a few prop fighters, learn what your doing and earn the perks you want. Then fly what you wish.

I'm not saying that its an overall bad idea. It's not really, but here I agree with butcher. I am lousy "stick" in many respects, but I have have enough successes that I was able to up a Me262, a Tiger 1, Panther, and Tiger II.  Leave it the way it is. For me its motivation to try harder and improve my personal skill in each area.

So in the end, in my personal opinion, it just seems  like "Gaming the Game" to combine all points into one perk pool.
Yes there is a Huge learning curve in flying. It starts on Take off and ends on the glide slope for landing. In short The grade arc is the difference you take between being in the sky or in a mountainside.

How about earning perks from the category of vehicle being destroyed?

You get GV perks for killing GV however you do so.

You get fighter perks for killing fighters.

You get bomber perks for killing bombers.

How about all perks go into one pot?
