"Range Text" not "Room Text"
« on: June 28, 2012, 01:13:05 AM »
Wish we had a Range Text Channel for friendlies within' range.  I understand that we have 'Room Text'.  The Room Text is really only useful, if everyone at the furball has upped from the same base.  Not too likely.
Would it be possible to incorporate a Range Text Channel, like our Range VOX?
There's another thread going on about this at the moment, but I'm surprised nobody has wished for it.  The Other Thread

This is just an example of a couple of guys having a good time, but completely blowing up Country Channel, when they could've just been typing on Range Channel. (if we had one)

Just throwing it out there...

I doubt that they would have, but I'm sure a lot of others would use it simply out of courtesy.  I guess this would mostly help out the folks who don't have a mic,
to use the Range VOX.

To be honest, I always assumed it was range text.  I never realized the text reached different people than range vox until I read it here.

I believe it should be range text, same as vox.  If people want to up from a base and stay in contact with people in different areas via text, that shows a level of coordination that makes it reasonable to say they should use a channel.  IMO anyways.

Don't know about that...  What about the "We need help at XYZ" type of message, which needs to be global to the country?

Would still be able to broadcast on Country Channel.  Range Text would just be another radio option to use for nearby planes.

+1 to this!

Never really saw the use of this channel anyways.

Mission has its own channel anyways. And yes I too was initially of the opinion that it was for range (till I saw two guys on the ground a sector and a half away chatting on it).
