Bird Poop
« on: June 28, 2012, 09:31:42 PM »
 effing HATE it.

left the shop today, and it looked like the mighty pidgeon from nuclear hell dropped one on the hood of my car. the gt.  :furious :furious :furious

anyway, got a little soapy water, and a micro fiber cloth, sprayed it, let it soak, then gently wiped it all off. there's an effing stain where the poop was.  :bhead :bhead

the car had a fresh coat of wax on her, so i didn't expect to see that. i thought i could rub it off a by using a little more pressure with the microfiber cloth. no go. now i've got a few swirl marks in addition to the nuclear bird poop from hell stain.

as it stands right now, i'm going to bring my polishing compound home from the shop, and try to polish it out tomorrow night. i can't feel any of this stuff with my fingertips, or with my fingernails.

will that get this crap(pun intended) off my car? i feel like i should already know this, but i don't....and there's plenty of you guys that know MUCH better than i how to maintain newness in a car. this is REALLY getting under my skin, as my gt is still perfect....except for this.

thanks doooods

frustrating part, is that i had a GOOD coat of carnuba wax on her. it should never have gotten to the paint.

Bird poop is acidic, and even worse under the sun. Spending hours on the wax burning away everything, I'd imagine that's why it got to the paint; just my 2 cents though.

I did the same thing getting a little aggressive with a shop towel taking off a little poo which left a 4" set of hard to notice scratches.  I was buffing a few scratches out of my truck from an over eager snowplow operator already so I just used my 6" polisher (cheap Ryobi) and a microfiber polishing wrap thingy with some Meguiars polish.  Hit it a couple times, not too much pressure and it was almost completely gone.  To finish up I took a soft foam head and hit it with the same stuff.  Took it right out.

In other news I used a clay bar for the first time a few weeks ago since I had a need for a pep boys bucket anyway.  Those suckers are no joke!  I hit the left half of the car with it and when I was done couldn't believe the difference.  You could throw a towel on the hood and it would slide off.  Gave it a shot of speed wax, cleaned up the wheels a bit and made it look nice for the Mustang/Ford Show and Go.  Friday night I went to Cecil county to take a few hits on the tree and it rained like all hell.  I was hanging out with my buddy who has lived in India the last few years so I didn't really care about tidying up.  Left the house the next morning at 6:30am and arrived with the dirtiest car at the track...at least I went rounds :)

When are you going to finally do a pass?  I'll let you use my wheels.  They'll probably be for sale this winter since I'll have my Corvette built up for next year and I won't have to beat up my eco-box anymore.

The way you described it, I really hope it didn't burn into the clear coat (I highly doubt it, but I've seen it before; only difference is the car had been there for 2 years being pooped on so...). Like Golfer said, try the microfiber method, maybe it is just a stain?  :)

to be honest, my gt'll probably run laps at milleville before she ever makes a full power pass down the 1320.

to hijack my own thread......check out evolution performances facebook page. there's apparently a mustang vs camaro meet at atco in august. i was talking to my buddy with the 2010 camaro ss. he's working on his wife now for permission to go. he probably won't run either....although if he were to run, i'd probably grab a hemet and line up next to him. we used to run back in the 80's. his 68 camaro 350 vs my 83 5 liter mustang. he never got me till i sold him the smallblock 400 out of my chevy pickup. then he kicked my azzzz on a regular basis.

i'm gonna try what you suggested, and hopefully it gets that stain out. this really does piss me off. not even an effing year old yet, and some stupid crap like this happens. it honestly makes me want to put poisoned food out for the little rats with wings........

I had a fiat 200 once and it was so poo it was brilliant.

People used to get angry when they saw it. lol

It was air cooled made in Poland and did 0 to 60 in 15 minutes lol

It failed its MOT on brake drums being oval, I had them re machined and it passed to the amusement of the garage :) (The cost of the drums was more than the car was worth :)
