Today at 7:00PM PST, the San Jose Earthquakes (10-3-3, 33 points 1st place in MLS) will face off against rivals and defending champions, the LA Galaxy (6-8-2, 20 points 5th in Western, 9th Overall) for the 50th regular season California Classico. It's another classic NorCal vs SoCal rivalry (And in my opinion, we should be two different states) that includes the Giants vs Dodgers, A's vs the Angels, Sharks vs Ducks and Kings, Raiders and Chargers, 49er's vs Nobody because LA is to stupid to have it's own NFL team.
The game, hosted at Stanford Stadium, had sold out all 50,000+ tickets 2 weeks ago, and now even the cheap seat tickets are selling for $100+ on after market sites. Tonight's match will include a salute to the Armed Forces (at least 700 tickets have been donated to Military Personnel and families) and will also be the start of San Jose's keeper Jon Busch's Saves for SEALs program, donating $50 to the Navy SEAL Foundation for every save he makes this season. Also, the Quakes club will be donating up to $25,000 to Operation Care and Comfort.
Me and my girlfriend got tickets well over a month ago, and have been waiting for this game since it was announced. It will be on ESPN2, and should be a riot (hopefully without a real riot). Going to be tailgating with a few friends from 3:00 till the game.
GOONIES NEVER SAY DIE. LONG LIVE THE QUAKES.
