AAR for Mission:
8 sets of B-17s with 35 plus escort fighters comprised of 10+ Ponies and 10+ Jugs with a few Lightnings lifted off from a rear base in Knight held country. The 8th Air Force Mission climbed to 22,000 ft for the buffs and higher altitudes for the escorts.
After making several course changes, the Mission was engaged by single LW aircraft that did manage to send a bomber drone or two to the ground in flames and small pieces. Once the buffs grouped up, they made a final course change for a medium airfield in Rookland. More LW aircraft arrived and gave some target practice for the bomber gunners.
The buffs dropped tens of thousands of pounds of bombs onto the enemy field below. Many hangars, strats and radar went down plus some field guns here and there. The buffs were able to drop unharrassed due to the gallant and heroic efforts of the escort fighters. Only a few bomber drones were lost over the bomb drop duration.
The escort fighters did a great job in keeping the LW aircraft busy while the buffs made a quick turn for friendly airfields and safe landing. Somehow, the LW stole some RAF planes and tried to sneak up on us and shoot us down. Our escort fighters discovered that ruse and fought them off as well.
