If by "ruin the game play" you mean use the carrier to start a battle in a combat game and not take crap from idiots who have other ideas on the propper use for a Carrier Combat Group, then yes.

I dont understand why all the bickering. It is very simple, if you do not out rank the person who has the CV you cant do anything about it. He has earned the right to do with it what he pleases. What he does may be lame, stupid, dangerous, smart, witty, tactful, absurd, ludacris, boring, exciting, aggravating, exhilarating, or terrifying but there is nothing you can do about it. The real issue isn't the rank system, the issue is that your squadron feels the need to dictate how others play.  You're just using the rank system to give you an excuse to act like salamanders.

    I quit caring a couple years back. My gameplay has suffered horribly, but real life has gotten much better

Simple thing to do is rank CV commands to players that man the ship guns and PT boats. They usually take better care of the CVs than furballers do.

The purpose of the rank system is to allow players like alpini to act like salamanders or do you really mean it just gives you and your squadron the excuse to act like one?

I like the idea of not being able to contol a CV for some amount of time after switching sides.     +1

I lose more and more respect for more and more AH squads every day.

Blame the player all you want. It is their 15 versus yours. The cv system is what it is. If HTC thought it was a big problem I'm sure it would be changed by now.
