No, we can't dupe it.  We thought it was something else causing it but that clearly wasn't the case when it returned.  HT has figured out a fail-safe to put on it if it fails so that it will open up your Aces High folder and give you a prompt with instructions to manually install it.  That will have to do until we can figure what condition is causing the issue.

see if there is a file named HRP2280TO2284.EXE.  If there is, please run it and see if the installer will run manually and let me know.  Please let me know right away if it's there and if it runs.  Thanks.

  I just ran it, fired up Aces High and the "Downloading Hi-Res, etc..etc.." message
is now NOT appearing.

You guys having this issue, is there anything unusual about your Windows 7 configuration?  Like do you have multiple users or anything unusual about your user account?

Can one of you who has had this problem yesterday and got the message that the download was complete, look in your Aces High folder and see if there is a file named HRP2280TO2284.EXE.  If there is, please run it and see if the installer will run manually and let me know.  Please let me know right away if it's there and if it runs.  Thanks.

I'm running Win7 with a single account (with full privs cuz I know what I'm doing  ).
When I manually run the above .exe, the progress bar gets about halfway done and then the program terminates. When I downloaded and ran AHHIRES2284.EXE manually, it worked just fine and the game behaves normally.

The patches.txt file is stamped 8/2/2012 10:04pm, which is before I logged out to manually download the hires file. Contents of the file:

HRP2280TO2284.EXE

I can run that file.  There are 2 users and I usually do not log off the other user (another name for wife  ).

Admin rights for AH user, normal rights for other user (wife).

I've manually downloaded the HIRES PACK (dated 2 Aug 2012 on the download page) several times trying to make certain I've got the correct pack .... when I check the hirestext.res properties it shows {1 Aug 2012 @10:11:30 AM} as the modified date .... as 1 Aug the most recent?

That's the correct file, what is the problem that you're having?

Rodent, double check your short cut what folder ah is running from. It sounds like you are not putting the hires pack in the correct folder.

Pyro: Just trying to make sure that the HIRES pack was the correct one since the date didn't match up to the HIRES pack name.
 
Not trying to be a pedant, just making sure I've got the right one loaded.  Download page for HIRES shows it a couple patches behind (4 vs 6 today)
