A Bomber Engagement Staged Mission?
« on: August 05, 2012, 12:46:59 PM »
Got a bit of an involved question about setting up a Staged Mission in the Custom Arena.

Premise:
Configure a Bomber Engagement Practice Mission. I would like to configure a mission where we can have the AI pilot enemy bombers, that me and my squaddies can then practice wingman engagements against.

Settings:
Airspawn a 5 to X bombers piloted by AI. Have them fly a prescribed course.

Airspawn up to 16 squad pilots in various aircraft and, as a squad, practice engaging the bomber stream as a group.

I've never made a staged mission before, and so I have no idea how complicated/easy it would be to set up a mission profile like this, or, if it's even possible. Any help on this?

Thanks,
InCrypt.

It is very possible!

I already have a mission uploaded called "CBL_FSO_AUG" with the "Germany" terrain that involves American fighters escorting American Bombers against German Fighters...

All you would have to do is assign your pilots to the German side and attack bombers while avoiding the escorts at first of course :)

Otherwise I can help ya build a mission from scratch!

And missions are uploaded are automatically distributed to ANY user that enters the terrain that the mission to anchored to. Its just like when you enter a arena and you have to wait to download the terrain - except much much smaller.

Just open a custom arena with the "Germany" terrain - and it will magically appear in your HTC folder... And on top of that while you have the "German" terrain loaded anyways - you can simply run it right away by going to Staged Missions --> Select Missions and go from there

Hey Mr. Krabbs!

Wanted to let you know, I got the mission loaded and play tested it a couple of times. Nice Job!

I take it that weapons load out of the aircraft are something set by the mission developer? (Would have liked the 20 MM or 30MM package for the 410's). Also, Could have used some 110's in the mission.

Other than that well done! I especially liked the marshaled spawn and take off. And warp feature to get the players into the fight quickly was a great idea.

Always set by the mission developer...

Keep in mind - you will need to consider a DROP_ORD segment if you wish your fighters to ditch their drop tanks...

Other than that... Give adding EXTRA mission options with different plane layouts Big gun package/small gun package for different experiences...

Right now this weekend I'm trying to finish a objective mission with different difficulty settings...

Last night InCrypt set up your mission for {The GunFIghters}. We didn't tell them about the AI's or anything we just called it a little suprise for Friday Squad Fun Night. We all loved it, it was great . No worrying about side balancing everybody had a choice of planes that they could fly. This will make a great too for anybody who uses it. The drones are not the best pilot but I can see where it can improve ones gunnery skills.

The only problem that I found was there seems to be a ghost AI flying around. Twice when running the mission I would get shot up by an invisible plane, it was the strangest thing. Next time I fly this I will have to record to make sure I'm not losing my mind and imagining this (that is a distinct possability) :x

Any missions with Corsairs, especially the F4U1? That would be awesome.

Great job  :rock :salute

I'll be having a multi-option coming out soon featuring Corsairs... Until then I now need to find the crash cause for large multi-option missions...
