Yes.

As to the kill streak... some people have to stretch it over months instead of a single tour. No reason to limit yourself here Fester. After all Hartmann was shot down many times.

no he wasn't...he was never shot down..as far as I knew......he crash landed something around 14 times and never went into his silk...each time it was from hitting the nme wreckage he caused.

what source says he was shot down?  like to read it.

Hartmann was forced to land in enemy territory and was captured my Russian troops. This incident would have ended his killstreak in AH after 90 victories. He finally escaped them, but so do we every time we are "captured".

Sorry, biography.  In any case, it has the details of his being shot down on occasion.

blonde knight of germany is a great read for anyone that likes ww2 air combat...

things like coffee break and overview. the methods hartmann employed and who he learned from.

the people he learned from came from two schools of dogfighting...

muscle flyers and head flyers. he combined it all into a fluid form of air combat that helped him survive an entire world war in the air.
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

haven't had the chance to read "The Blond Knight" but I was just reading inserts from it and other sites about Hartmann ...seems in his early days he was shot down once.

I like what he said about Hitler

When Hartmann finally met Hitler, “I found him a little disappointing, although very interested in the war at the front and extremely well informed on events as I knew them. However, he had a tendency to drone on about minor things that I found boring. I found him interesting yet not that imposing. I also found him lacking in sufficient knowledge about the air war in the east. He was more concerned with the Western Front’s air war and the bombing of cities. Of course the Eastern Front ground war was his area of most interest. This was evident. Hitler listened to the men from the Western Front, and assured them that weapons and fighter production were increasing, and history proved this to be correct. Then he went into the U-boat war, how we were going to decidedly destroy maritime commerce, and all of that. I found him an isolated and disturbed man.”
