DSGII, Grab an A8, kill a bomber.
« on: August 13, 2012, 04:48:55 PM »
With registration now open, it's quite obvious this is going to be a massive event. Now is the time to reserve your spot with I./JG1 and pilot the wonderfully potent Fw190A-8 in defense of the Fatherland. But why shouldn't this also be a time of redecoration, just because this is war? Our new European Beautification Effort is putting in work full time using the A-8's skill set to add glorious yard ornaments to all the houses hurt in this conflict. Many people have requested some sort of 4 engined bomber, preferably in pieces with a flame denoting the fire burning within the men's hearts for the Luftwaffe and the Fatherland or the rear section of a P38 standing vertically, to show that the devil has lost on this ground.

Come one, come all. Earn your place in history by becoming an Ace in defense of the Fatherland and bring victory to our cause! http://www.ahevents.org/events/scenarios/current-or-next-scenario.html

in all seriousness, the A8s do well in scenarios. . . with proper tactics and in a good wing (which is what you have in scenarios) a group of A8s has the power, the durability and the speed to really rack up a lot of kills.  109s are much more fragile and tend to die a lot easier then 190s for the most part.  Sure, an A8 is not going to be hanging out up high and manage to fight a 51, but as the fight descends, the A8 gets stronger and stronger - and the escorts have to make the decision to go low or stay high. . . choices choices.

Anyway, if you want to get into what many of us consider the real potential of AH2 - that in reality MA is just fun and games and scenarios are the serious stuff, then this is your chance to really experience what is ultimately as close as we are ever going to get to flying in WW2. . .

Me 109 F/G:
"- Did pilots like the slats on the wings of the 109?
Yes, pilots did like them, since it allowed them better positions in dogfights along with using the flaps. These slats would also deploy slightly when the a/c was reaching stall at higher altitudes showing the pilot how close they were to stalling.....this was also useful when you were drunk "
- Franz Stigler, German fighter ace. 28 victories. Interview of Franz Stigler.

Not dirt darts. Aces! Franz Stigler is also the ace who let a b17 go even after having been ordered to destroy it, because it was in such an awful state. A good story of humanity; it can be found here.

It's well worth the read. But, I wouldn't count on any such acts of chivalry this go around. :neener:

It happens, but it's rarer now than a sheep in AH.

Grab an A8.......make sure your life insurance is up to date.  They totally are outclassed by

anything the allies have at that altitude.  Make it through one pass you may have a chance

to dive away....and take another 20 minutes to get to altitude.....that's if we don't see that

boat anchor struggling to get alt with a "Shoot Me!"  tag on  its' back  :bolt:

Except we are not flying excel spreadsheets and charts, and up there, it's the Axis pilots outclassing anyone the Allies have up there  :D

Enough with the mindless banter.  The outcome of this battle has been foretold!  :old:
