Returning "ol timer" needing some advice
« on: August 21, 2012, 11:03:45 AM »
Afternoon all.  I was away from the game for a little over a year, and it seems that things have changed ALOT.     I have gotten a new PC and started flying again about 2 weeks ago.  I am having trouble adjusting vid settings to see gv's on the ground from the air. I can see them fire their guns, but can't quite see them.  I know its in one of my settings, but can't for the life of me figure out which one. Also, I was in a panzer last nite, and went to Pos 2, which is the main gun, I could not get it to zoom.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  :bhead

The GV system has seen quite some changes:

- Visibility: GV icons do appear only at ~ 600yards if they are sitting still and twice that range if they are moving. Exception to that is the Fi-156 Storch, which can spot GV at twice that range. Also parking under a tree does effectively hide the icon now.
- Zoom: We got more realistic gunsights now, even with working range scale in German tanks (use C &V). Most tanks do have a fixed zoom setting now, a few (for example Panther) have two fixed zoom settings you can switch between.
- Driving: We got an auto transmission now. Move your tank using W A S D, shift W is full forward, shift D is all stop

Somethign to try:  I believe it's Shift+F1, Shift+F2 and Shift+F3 for Short-Long air visual ranges and Shift+F4 for "Ground Visual Range".  When looking for the "dots" of vehicles on the ground at a good distance, welll outside icon range, using the ground visual range mode I find greatly helps increase the distance at which you can spot their "dot" (especialy on my older rig).

No, it's not. But for a returning player it just might joggle the memory a bit.  ;)
