You honestly believe that the same nation that were prepared to arm women and children with sharpened bamboo in order to fight off an allied invasion of their homeland, and fight a hopeless cause until their positions were burned out with flamethrowers, and commit mass suicides with grenades, guns, knives, swords, really were frightened off by an armed citizenry? Thanks for clearing that up. YES! but early in the war before they got so desperate. Also it was the generals who were quoted as not wanting to attack the mainland...& really the smart ones in charge is all that really matters.
