Question's About Hanger Destruction
« on: September 05, 2012, 01:20:26 PM »
1. Is a 15 minute downtime on hangers too short?
2. Should hangers have a more positive  impact on score?

My Opinion:

1. 15 minutes is way too short.  I think 30 minutes  sounds reasonable.  Of course resupplying the hangers will decrease downtime.  So, more C-47's or what-not for target practice.

2. I believe it takes about 3000 lbs or more to take down a hanger.  I'd be able to take out a lot of town buildings with the same  amount. (so am I  earning more points milk running a town, instead of going for a vh that needs to be taken out?)

Just trying to encourage more bombing of hangers and less useless town drive-by's.
Keep in mind,  these are only my opinions & questions.  Please offer yours or even facts.

1. No. If you can shut down fields for up to 30 minutes, it would be very bad for the game.
2. Not really.

15 minutes is adequate. 15 minutes (or thereabouts) only applies when ALL of a specific type of hangar are down at the same time. If they are destroyed out of sync, 15 minutes no longer applies, and the downtime is shortened.

I'm cool with 1.
About #2.  Say I'm a score hound and flying directly over a hanger that the guys below want  down, for whatever reason.  I'm in a B-17 with only three 500 lbr's left. (i have drones).  Naturally taking out that hanger is the right thing to do.  There's an untouched enemy base right next to the one in question, the town hasn't been touched at that base.  Now, since all I care about is score, in this scenario, I'm heading over to that fresh base and get some points from the town.

At first I thought this thread was about...

But then I realized it was really about...

You really need to be careful because of...

As far as the scoring goes, on the one hand I agree with you that it'd be nice to see someone hit a precision target and get more recognition than someone hitting an area target.  One reason that they might not score hangars as high is to prevent score monkeys from ensuring that every base on the front is out of sync.

It's already pretty bad with towns, as people will fly milk runs and desync every town on the front so they can get Schmuckatelli landed a bajllion points in a B-17caster of The Herpington Derps.

Of course, that might not be the reason at all.

I think it would be more realistic if for instance, on a small field 2 of the possible 3 FH's were down, you could only up X amount of planes in X amount of time...

just seems to me if 2/3rd's of the hangars are down then it should slow the availability of aircraft at that field till hangars pop.

Good for base taking, bad for vulching but more realistic

I'm actually sticking for the ones that would use those last few eggs, to assist with the hangers , but I do question the score.
