I dunno, Mav. There were 150 cannon-armed 51's made, and you know the fuss we hear about the the 1C and its 200 run.

Honestly, I think the 51B is a nice choice, and really separates itself from the Yak and 205 in many ways- top speed, alt performance, guns... I do think it is a horse of a different color. Fw190D-9's and P-51D's are in deep caca if a P-51B happens along- you can't say the same with a Yak or 205. The 51B just might wind up being the penultimate perk-buster!

"I just don't see the reason to add the P51B with 4 50 cals to the plane set."

Maybe because they can as they have the P-51 base to start with? I honestly see no reason ever to wonder why they add a plane.  Why they did not or rather, would not is altogether different question. Did not indicates past tense aka maintenance mode and I do not foresee that with thier current philosphy.

I've yet to see them say they will not add any aircraft in production in WWII.  And WWII to me that is 1939 to Sept 1945.  It took several nations over 6 years to build  all those different aircraft used in the war. HTC,  with six people, are doing it much faster

The B pony was lighter.. climbed better. Turned better. Better at high alt with the engine pyro's selected.. and better.. much better accel at low altitude. With the malcom hood; this pony even had better vis than the D model. A significant number of USAAF B/C's were fitted with that hood...

Sadly; this one will have a cluttered forward view around the canopy frames... (don't look like the malcom hood is modeled)

What this pony lacks in gun punch will be made up for in turn and accel in the dogfight. It will be a mite less effective as an escort fighter with the short gun package, and will not be much of a buff hunter either. It will however be a sweet plane to hunt 109's and FW's in.

I'm looking forward to it.

I came here to kick bellybutton and chew bubblegum, and I'm all out of gum.

Rowdy Roddy Piper, from the secret alien infiltration/invasion movie "They come".

Duke Nukem stole all his good one liners from movies.

Groovy.
