HTC Sunglasses
« on: December 07, 2012, 08:09:45 PM »
I would spend some perk points just to get a pair of HTC sunglasses.  Sometimes the sun just seems to take up way too much of the screen.

position the plane to block the sun, or in the case of trackir, dont look at it.

f8 works too even without trackir.

For tankers, the sun is murderous, especially if the enemy spawns towards it.

Wasn't it the Red Baron who said to always spawn camp with your back to the sun?
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

Nope, I believe it was his teacher Oswald Boelcke.  :D :D

You are aware you can use Mr. Sun as a tactical advantage?
It is also supposed to be really really bright...its the Sun!

I would like the clipboard to be able to block it instead.  Sometimes it is more prudent to fly directly into the sun while climbing to alt or in transit and the glare is somewhat annoying.  Throwing the clipboard up in front of it would solve that problem but in no way change gameplay because your vision would now be blocked.

It used to be that way. HTC changed it since people were using a shrunk down clipboard to block out sun glare and deny the enemy his proper setup's advantage.

The issue it that pilots were equipped with sunglasses, they could hold their hand up and shield their eyes from glare, if they had a clipboard they could, i suppose, use it as a sun shield. Sunglasses should be available :old:

I think the Sun is bugging everyone because the lighting in the game is reversed when compared to real life. In example, if you were to fly a plane into the Sun in real life the cockpit instrument panel would appear to get darker. In this game the instrument panel gets brighter.

Another problem is the IG sun rises and sets at a fixed position in relation to your plane (IE, always level with your current altitude) rather than the world. This means at sunrise and sunset the sun will ALWAYS potentially be directly in your face
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Sunglasses, why not? Real pilots had them. Shouldn't be a perk either. Standard equipment. The sunglasses if modeled correctly would not eliminate the gun glare. Just cut it down. That's what real sunglasses do. If you want to take it a step farther, it would cut down the sun but also make the instrument panel darker and harder to read. I hate the sun glare and I think it is a hinderance for most players far more than it is an advantage.

I could be mistaken but I think the point is the Sun is a hinderance to players, just like it was in RL.    Just sayin
