Gents,
As this frame progressed, an idea came to me about bomber campaign scenarios in FSO. I would like to float the following proposal for the next FSO bomber campaign:
One of the main considerations in the historical bomber campaigns was the available number of bombers to maintain the fight. Start the first frame with a finite number of bombers. As they are shot down that number is reduced. Of course there is a small replacement rate however that should not be very large. As the number of bomber decline the players should be migrated into less capable airframes to retain the participation level. While this is taking place the target requirements do not decrease. Another option is at the beginning of the month the bomber side is given a list of targets to hit in the month with order of completion at the bomber planner's chose. The effect is that there is a greater push to "Bring the planes back home" so they will be available for the next frame. Also the loss of good bombers put less drop weight over the target objectives next frame.
This should not be a one way street, similar rules should apply to the defender as well. As the better airframes are lost the maximums should decline to be replaced by lesser aircraft. Example being last FSO, as NiK-2Js and Ki-82 are lost replace with Ki-61 or Zekes. This places a similar burden on the defender as the attacker.
Well that is my 2 cents worth and a Very Merry Christmas to ALL.
