Additional Achievements (the world of weird)
« on: January 07, 2013, 10:12:58 PM »
Add the strange, implausible, lucky or plain out "impossible."  The jeep getting three seconds air is along my line of thinking.

Land an airplane after hitting a tree (weedwhacker)
Glide at least 25 (or more?)  miles to a safe landing (British Airways flight 9)
Destroy an aircraft with a tanks main from 2k distance (Anne Oakley)
land an aircraft without control surfaces
Kill an enemy in his chute while you are in yours (never surrender)
land a direct hit on an enemy with a storch's smoke grenade (we're important too)
Kill a 262 with a jeep (Grizz's Clemency)
Land an aircraft after surviving a tanks main gun hit (Walk it off)
Deal the final blow to a CV from strafing (Rambo)
Successfully drop field supplies in a white flagged enemies town (Jerry's Kids)        (just kidding!!!!!!)
Kill a tigerII with an M8  (size doesn't matter)
7 kills in one sortie in an me163 (last line of defense)
Land an aircraft missing its vertical stabilizer
Get X kills while deadstick
land upside down (SAPP Landing)
Lose an entire mission of planes dive bombing a field( Vta......... :D

Which ones make sense? Which are stupid? What else could be added in the world of weird?

So assuming you read the last sentence you think each and every one is stupid?  Why is that, and what do you think would be fun weird achievements if at all you want any?

No not stupid, I would hope that after the beta testing that there would be some way of oppting out of this program. We already have score and rank that over inflate ego's as it is, just what we need in here more "LOOK AT ME". The most fun you can have in here is not the fight , rank, score or achievements but is making new friends from all around the world and yes I have made a few. So if your need is to have more of the "pat me on the back" then you go and have fun, as for me count me out :salute

I have made friends here.
They have helped me learn how to drop my processes down to 19.
They have helped me with my ACM.
I have been given advice on many questions that I have asked.

One squad even invited me to join their them. I was flattered and felt honored that they invited me into their squad.
:salute 80th "The Headhunters", a great bunch of fun loving people.

In 2 years of flying, the most I have ever landed is three kills,
The best I have ever done is 4 kills and 1 assist, and with one engine out, while trying to land, I got vulched.

No matter, I fly and fight for the action.
I only fly P38s. I'm a furballer. I don't even care if I land my kills.
Perks do not matter to me, I only fly P38s.
But that is just me.

We are all here for our own reasons.

I will admit I find the "silly" achievements funny, and enjoy them.

As for "ego balm", I agree, some will live for it.

And for the "look at me" people; I will also agree there will be some players that will live for their achivements, just as we know that to some players, "winning" is all that matters; what ever their definition is of winning is.
In the game there are ego-trippers that live for winning, at the cost of their lemmings. (I guess I should have said squad underlings.)

Just look at the BBS. The BBS has its ego-trippers that annoy some people.
That will never change.

Games have come and gone; and some have survived.
I seriously doubt that anyone wants to see AH die a slow death on the vine.

Who knows, maybe it will help new people from dropping out, after their 2 week freebie.

Afterall, we all know what a steep learning curve there is to this game.

So, to me, if it helps keep the game alive, what's the problem?

This is a beta test run. Hitech and his crew are listenning to all of our comments.

And I'm sure, that in the future, there will be a way to squelch them, if you don't want to see them.

I'm not trying to start an arguement, this is just my $0.02 worth.    :old:

see you in the sky.    :salute

Said no or maybe because it would be a waste I think as they would be rarely achieved. Good thoughts though. :aok
I always wanted to fight an impossible battle against incredible odds.

Man I was hoping for more comments like Slates, and not an argument over whether or not we should have achievements.  :uhoh

I think that some of the harder to achieve achievements would be some of the best in a way.  It would make them actual achievements rather than steps that everyone will eventually go through.  These really difficult or rare ones would be something worth working for if your into getting achievements.  Not knocking your reasoning or opinion....just looking at it in a different way.

I posted in another thread that I like the idea of having military and "silly" achievements so everyone can get something from them and I still feel that way.  However I personally like the silly ones just because most of em are funny...which is the biggest attraction of the achievement idea for me.  Most of these made me laugh so I like em.

This is exactly how I want to see it. A mix of everything for everyone.

Here's a few more
Kill an enemy who already has 10 kills in their sortie (David Vs Goliath)
Gain 10 air to air victories in a single sortie while flying a heavy bomber. (porcupine)
Fly 30 or more minutes within 5k distance of 18 friendly B29's. (Projection of power)
Lose three 262's consecutively. (Money aint everything)
Destroy a Tiger2 with a 50kg or 100lb bomb  (...plink)
Land an airplane without damage on a cruiser or in the CV hanger. (Captains Ire)
Land a 262 at an airfield being vulched (mission impossible)

I liked the ones in bold. Some I feel encourage unsportsmanlike gameplay, such as getting a 262 kill in a jeep (possible vulching). I also feel that it seems a little too impossible for the average player.

I'm just shooting out ideas that I thought of.  I posted whatever came into my head.  The 262 jeep kill was inspired by a post from Grizz (with pictures) about a jeep on a lovely countryside drive meeting a rather unexpected and unfortunate demise :t
