Multiple pov
« on: January 12, 2013, 11:39:28 AM »
Are there any plans to add multiple pov's to Aces High (fwd view on one screen and side views on different monitors)?

It doesn't do this, triple screen is just a wide view, not separate views. This is similar to the request to have the instrument panel on a separate monitor.

How would that work?  Would all the screens rotate position when you changed your front view's direction or would your "side" view screens continue to just display the side views?  The first might be OK, the second would not be ok.

It would likely work just like it does in MSFS. You can see it in youtube simpit videos. If you build a cockpit to sit in you want to turn your head to see different views you don't want to look over your nose at the tail. It would also allow a small monitor to function as a rear view mirror.

It's been requested before and I believe there are reasons HTC doesn't want to go that route.

Well I know I can't see wing tip to wing tip on my single monitor, but the screen shots of triple screens certainly show it.

You see out front in the center monitor, left front in the left monitor, and right front in the right monitor.

That would require 17+ monitors arranged in a dome around you, so I am skeptical to put it mildly.

Consider a simpit room with projectors for each wall, cockpit in the center of the room and TrackIR set to only look up and down. I imagine you could do it with 4 projectors set to 90 degrees view each.

You see out front in the center monitor, left front in the left monitor, and right front in the right monitor.

DCS sims also output side views and the front view and you can only get them to match perspective with the monitors at right angles to each other unless you zoom in the view. It's noticeably different from what we have with triple monitors. We have a wide single screen, they have more of a wrap around view with a greater view angle.

Looking at curved screen with 3 projectors and Nthusim software. What I was referring to would be like having three cameras at your head position and all would move as the front view does now. Not sure I understand why it couldn't be added as the views are already being generated in real time?

They aren't generated as separate views. There is one view centered on your viewing direction.

It would be rather cheating to have one view fixed showing your six o'clock while you had other views you could move around.

I believe looking back with a view key is the fastest way to check 6 and it's easier than focusing on 2 monitors at once.
