flamewarriors is a joke, the true reason for flamewarriors was never been to discuss/exchange ideas in an open manner but rather for some to put others down just for the amusement factor.  and that is the reason why a political forum wouldnt work here either, there wouldnt be any discussion but rather a place for some people to insult others just because.  it is laughable that you want to compare it to a free libertarian society as it is not.

The WoT's thread was dead because WoT's rapidly got too ridiculous a game to play, in the eyes of many over at FW. If THAT was the sole reason you were there, then I can see why you thought it was dead. Go into general discussion, though, and sometimes there are way too many topics to follow at one time.

I belong to both forums. I tend to ignore most of what goes on in each. In their own ways each forum, here and fw, can be tedious and each has it's good points. The big draw for me is to keep in contact with some folks I have known through the game world since about 94 in AW. It's been fun to travel to areas and meet some of the folks. I've gone more than 800 miles out of my way to do so, especially last year. Then again there are folks I wouldn't cross the driveway to see, both here and there.

I do have to say that on average I spend more time and visits at fw than here and it has nothing to do with Skuzzy's moderation of this forum. Skuzzy's efforts have been for the most part pretty much in line to what I would have done as well. Frankly I think he errs on the side of being pretty light handed most of the time. I would have dropped the ban hammer far more frequently myself.

To me it's more of a quality of posting issue that brings me there more than here. I hate to say it, in spite of the rather crude and excessively juvenile postings of some there, I find the quality of the discussion to be a bit more adult in nature.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I think Skuzzy is correct concerning a business related BBS needing moderation. I think he has a tough job here and does it about as well as it can be done.

I don't necessarily agree about unmoderated = anarchy though. FW is approaching its 5 year point and it runs along without any hitches. Of course, one's definition of anarchy may differ from someone else's.

I think Rip and Mav are both pretty much spot on.

considering most peoples sources for news would would they really be discussing something or just regurgitating what they have heard?

...or willing to stop taking it from the spoon in the first place.

I think politics should be kept out of AH, no cleaner line of OK/Not-OK on the subject can be drawn.
