Animation on Rearm Pad
« on: May 04, 2013, 10:14:12 AM »
I wish that when I am on the rearm pad, there was a quick animation of a crew running out and rearming the plane.

This would only work if there is only one plane on the rearm pad at the time, and the engines would have to be turned off.

It would probably be more trouble than it is worth, but I think it would be a fun addition.

Make it an optional thing as some of us have terrible frame rates and we have enough trouble with the clouds as it is :noid

It would be a lot of work to make the animation look decent for both my Mosquito and Mitsu's Ki-43.  With a generic, same for every plane animation, either they would run into my Mossie or would stop and start working while a good distance from the Oscar.

They could be made to dance in a big circle around the plane till it is reloaded. We already have the troop dance animation.

I just assumed they where already animated and in the game. We just can't see them because they work like Speedy Gonzales and can rearm and refuel a plane in 30 seconds.

In appropriate instances, can we have it animated that a crew chief walks up with a sign that says "you are a loser because this is going to be scored as another sortie but we all know it is not"?

You sure get butt hurt about this don't you.  Every chance you get you gotta bang that drum don't ya.  Is this part of the game taking away from your enjoyment?  Or do you really just want to take from something that the preponderance of players do enjoy.

Changing a culture is the hardest thing to do.  Maybe impossible in some cases.  One can lay down and live with these type things.  There is nothing wrong with that.  One can also keep the banner flying to make right what is wrong.  Takes huge time and effort - just the way it is.  There is nothing wrong with that either.  :salute

Huh? I was told that re-arming is not scored as another sortie. Not that I care about score anymore, my $15 better be fun. Too busy too.
They're casting their bait over there, see?

Well put sir <S>.  I wish you the best of luck then, we may not agree, but I would certainly rather have you pursue what you believe to be a right than just lay down for it.

:airplane: Would be nice touch, but I vote for a 4X4 with a big red + on the side to add a touch of realsm. The re-arm pad reminds me of a fuel pit for quick turn-a-rounds, which also had a big red fire truck sitting close by!
Blue Skies and wind at my back and wish that for all!!!

I already have the tools and the desire to model this and a few other things myself (being in school for animation helps). The problem is that the motion capture studio runs for about $200/day. Then you have to pay for actors, meals for actors, and then donate the time it takes to model the data properly. I don't think you can do this with freeware, not even the vaunted Blender.

EDIT: Just to help move you along, if you wish. This is a sample of what is involved. The freeware BVH stuff will work, but you won't get what you are asking for without scripting it yourself. I think it would probably take a month worth of work, which at current prices for rentals, actors, and so on would cost around $10,000.

Still think HTC should foot that?
