Yamasaki Catleap 2560x1440 27" monitor

I have a buddy that has one of these and he swears by it.  Anyone here have one that can offer testimony pertinent to AH?

That kind of resolution at less than $400 seems like a decent deal. However the response time is only 6 ms.

I'd like to know too, Ammo as I'm also in the market for a good 27" 2560 x 1440 x 60 monitor as well since I got this Titan vid card.

I saw 1 at Newegg that caught my eye but it isn't mainstream.......DoubleSight is the brand name:

Lists for under $700 at the moment......................h as all the current connection capabilities (D-sub, DVI, HDMI & DP), is backlit, w/ built-in speakers (ain't giving up my Klipsch THX 2.1 set up though) & is IPS panel w/ 6ms response time. Looks like it could be a good deal......................... .........

I was looking at the 30" & up stuff until I got to looking at my desk & realized that a 30" would be too big for it so I backed off the 1600p thinking to stay w/ the 27" stuff which keeps it at 1440p.

Already got the wife's upgrade package pretty much picked out (already got a copy of Win7 HP SP1, Antec 300 case, Thermaltake 700w PSU & 2 WD Cavier Black 500Gb SATA III HDD's at home) on Newegg (CPU, mobo, mem, DVD & "monitor").

don't be fooled by the response time Ammo. nearly all response times are listed for grey to grey, not black to color, nor does it have anything to do with input lag. not really finding a lot to be overjoyed about with the yamakasi brand. looks to rumored to be a less than "a grade" apple cinema panel.

I must admit the resolution is nice and doesn't decrease frame rates too much even with a moderate graphics card. Speaking about refresh rates, I haven't noticed any shadowing or ghost images on any flat screen I've been using for AH. If they say it's 6 ms, it probably is short enough for gaming by any measure.  Input lag would be a more interesting reading, but for some reason they don't tell that. The best way to tell if you'd like that one or not would be to connect both that and your current monitor side by side in clone mode to see if one or another lags behind or otherwise either one is superior to the the other. I don't know if the German vendors allow you to return an opened package, but lend the one from your buddy for testing. I bet he might be interested in the results, too.

Prad.de is one of the best information sources for monitors, they also test input lag. Input lag and refresh values are not so much of an issue with AH but become big deals when you play first person shooters.

When you play AH you don't need to make very quick turns like in first person shooters. Therefore AH is not so sensitive to input lag or even refresh delays. The faster the movement is required, the more sensitive the monitor is to these problems.

I have a QNIX pls 1440p OCed at 120hz Korean monitor..And playing games at 120hz on a 1440 monitor is amazing..There is less input lag due to only 1 DVI input..And i got it for $317 shipped to me in 3 days from Korea..If you guys want one you better hurry cause once the sellers know we can OC these then they will raise the prices like the did on the Catleap..Here is a review..I would never play at 60hz or 1080p again..

Either that model or the 2713H has an anti-glare coating which people comment poorly about.  I was looking at those models as well, in addition to a 2711.

However, I think I'll end up going with this one, based upon reviews:

Regarding the OP, I believe that brand and other Korean brands are using the panels that the major companies didn't pick up, so there's more of a chance of a dead pixel, and depending on where it's purchased, there might be a minimum dead pixel count before they do a replacement.

The viewsonic has the lowest input lag and lowest ghosting of any pls panel..Now the Korean monitors are defiantly a risk but i went for it and got a perfect panel with zero dead or bright pixels and very tiny BLB..And playing at 1440p at 120hz is the most amazing experience i have had playing PC games..

Thanks for the link to that one.  I have two Viewsconics right now, but the 23" has always suffered burn in and later started taking 5 minutes for the display to come on.  The 19" backup screen is what I am using until I can afford to replace it.

Have you had any such problems on the 27"?

EDIT:

Right now I think I am looking at the Viewsconic 27" instead of the Dell.  Amazon's $669.99 price is also very tempting.
