ok hard to type using a phone.

what exactly is the difference  between a 12 hour and a 6 hour switch time.  do you really play the game that many hours a day that it makes a difference to you?  reason I ask is because I'll be lucky if I get 6 hours a week with work, volunteer and family time.

so if you log in switch and tell your buddies, "hey I'll join you today in about 5 hours or so" then more power to you if you have the time.

then again if you are like most of us that dont have 6 hours to wait, then might as well stay 12 hours since it wont make a difference.  it's like looking at a car and see the price tag of $500,000 and asking for it to be lowered to $250,000.  what is the point we still cant afford it.

The difference is 6 hrs. I never discuss AH from a 'me only' perspective.  :D

You know, it was when the population increased, is why we asked and begged for the time to be upped in the first place. Switching back then, to the winning/losing side (mostly winning) made things a little bit awkward and now that the population/activity is going back to the levels before we asked for that, maybe it is time It was reverted back to the old ways (easy switching). If the arena itself would moderate that based on player count, maybe we have a good solution?

do you belong to a squad that plays so many hours that you tell squadies, sure I'll join you in 5 hours for that mission.  would you rather have a wait time 2 hours or 6.

for most players there wont be a difference between 6 and 12 hour switch time as most wont be around to come back in 6.  2 hours makes a difference maybe 3.  6 or 12 wont make a difference for 99% of the players.

Past 1 hour the game flow dynamic will change what you wanted to suddenly switch for. So 60 minutes or less is the dynamic that will have any impact on the individual player's outcome of the moment or the game from the mission or war winners perspective. And so aid any greifer or greifers. Or speed up any negative dynamic that might cause players to log.

None of you are willing to honestly tally a list of unintended consequences and human greifing you know from personal experience that will follow with a radically shortened time wait for side switching. From many years of experience with this game I and many of "you" know that when Hitech reduces the restrictions on us in the MA we proportionally increase our self serving actions. Why? The only real consequences imposed on us in the MA are for bad language and trying to hack the game. Everything else are back end administrator imposed dynamics controls.

Why are you afraid to list the negatives of your idea? Every change to a dynamic system like this game has benefits, negatives and unintended consequences.

To grant any game wish, you force Hitech to create that list anyway and weigh it against the benefits. All Hitech is doing is asking for the "Car Fax" for this used car which all of you seem to not have on hand. Or are attempting to ignore during this sales pitch in the hopes of well...conning the buyer...naww too strong, or is it.

bustr, are you sure that's the way it works with HT? If I wanted to keep my head and try community idea's at the same time I would not read into it as if it was a sales pitch. I would just skim the title and if it wet my appetite, I would take a glance at it to see if I could apply anything else that came with the idea (as good ideas tend to have just as good one's attached).

Since HT designed previous games and this game, I would bank on him being able to "goove" the idea into the "music" he is playing with this game, if it fits the style, and not copy the stuff behind it to too much. In fear of it weighing him down with its mostly added control mechanisms/emotional layers from players (people are always wanting to get their paws into places they shouldn't). Basically, if you are using the same "style" of mind, then its more of opening the possibility of what he already knows, but doesn't see/may have seen and forgot: But will see/see again, when you mention it.

A perk point switch system without time limit may be the answer. Award the difference in player count between the side a player is on and the outnumbered side he switches to. Charge the difference in player count between the side being switched from if a player is switching to a side with a numerical advantage.
