Nighttime or nightime arena?

I'm new to the game and not sure if this has been brought up before. Just trying to see everyone's thoughts about having the arena have an actual night, or, having a nightime only arena for a change sometimes.

If you use the search function on the BBS, you'll see this has been discussed a lot.  One of the biggest problems is that there is no practical way to make sure that all players see the same "night".  All anyone has to do is crank up the gamma setting on their own video card to make it bright as day for themselves.

Many years ago there used to be night time in game but it was eventually removed.  The problem was that when night time came around, a large portion of the players would log off and either log back in after an hour (the length of the 'night') or just logged off for the day.  Others would alt+tab out of game and go into their video card setting and adjust the gamme levels, essentially turning night into day and fly that way.  Because a large portion of the population would log off and the complaints, night time was eventually removed and replaced with what we have now.

There are scenarios that are set for nighttime, however I wish the gamma would be "fixed" when it was nighttime so players would not abuse it. I like the challenge of it, however it is almost impossible to spot aircrafts at night without said cheat. Another problem is we don't have radar in aircrafts, or radar to guide aircrafts.

Set up correctly, with proper color and lighting values, night time is just fine and allows you to see the ground objects and other planes/vehicles without any issues or need for monitor abuse. Part of the problem is the game settings not being quite right when people try "night", and part of the problem - a rather large one IMO - is that most people don't have their monitors set/calibrated correctly in the first place.

I've run custom arenas with nighttime settings and nobody had any issues with it. It's been a while since I've spun one up, but if anyone wants to play around to see what night is like, we can schedule a time and I'll set up a custom arena.

Why don't the Mid war and Late war bounce back and forth....
While one is day the other is night....

HTC could start up a small arena just for night time combat and give it 24 slots or so. Just like a fireball lake kind of thing. They could also have an "accelerated" night time (only lasts about an hour), or it turns to night in the off hours... on second thought that would make the off hour guys even more mad.

Otherwise Basher, I doubt that it will happen in the MA again but if I see you in there, I can set up a private arena and we can do some fights in there some time.
