some people are exigent and will not blindly accept a product because they are told to.

Most people would just stop paying for it.

I'm more curious as to reload times and perk costs than anything.

One thing I read while researching the Hetzer was that it was rushed into service with a major design flaw. The designers put the driver and loader on the left and the gun on the right side of the vehicle. However the gun was designed to be loaded from the right. This meant the loader had to reach round the breech from the left in order to load a shell and this screwed up the reload times.

As always, I'm betting the soldiers inside the Hetzer were able to adapt and overcome the obstacles of loading from that side and minimize any design flaw.  IIRC, the Hetzer was not originally meant to mount the 75mm PaK 39 L/48 gun, but instead a different gun, which one I do not remember.  The 50mm KwK 39 L/60 maybe?

I do have to say that I am surprised that HTC went with the Hetzer instead of the StG III.  If they would have added the StG III then the Panzer III would have been that much easier to add.   ;)  The StG III could have easily provided three models: the B, G, and F models (similar to the Panzer IV lineage).

Regardless, I'm glad HTC opened up a new area uncovered in the AH world: turret-less AFV's (the M3/75mm doesn't count).  I look for the Su-100 to be on the horizon, and maybe perhaps the StG III as well.  ;)

Now... about adding the Wellington, SB-2, Beaufighter, Soviet SB2, Yak update, B26 update, Ju88 update, etc.   :D

Gixer is 100% Wrong

HiTech

100% Wrong about what, been talking about a lot of different points. So I am wrong that terrain doesn't have pyramid hills and straight angles? That we still have aircraft from AH1 which was my original point re this thread.

Last time I was online they were still there along with pyramid hills.

No matter how many references you make to coding methods or spec  fact is the core engine is the same as it was in 2004 if not 2000 with only added mapping extra objects and effects etc since.

You seem to lack reading comprehension, all I've ever said is I'd like to see higher resolution terrain mesh. I proved that AH has had several engines and therefore proved your nonsense wrong.

No point trying to communicate with you any further.

And you seem  to lack the ability to have a conversation without making personal remarks on reading comprehension.

If we don't agree that AH2 was basically an update of AH1 and AH2 which in my opinion still has the same look and feel as AH1. (proven by your screenshots) but that's ok if you don't agree.

If you don't agree that we still have the same core graphics engine from 2000 can you agree that in 2013 we do have a core graphics engine which is pre 2005.

Which surely explains on what we do agree on, that AH looks dated and in need of an update.

Your strongly defending changes the first 5 years of the last decade, but overlooking the 8 years and six months since 2005 where not a lot has happened (AH3?).. So in that timeline whether I'm a year or two out, or arguing the difference between AH1 or AH2 back between 2000 and 2005 is irrelevant since it was so long ago either way.

Gixer,

I am pretty sure HiTech was saying you're 100% wrong about your claims about the graphics engine and its development, or lack thereof.

He acknowledged that the terrain resolution could be higher, and in fact is currently modeled with four times the resolution, but is scaled to where it is because of the hardware they are targeting.

By increasing the resolution does HT mean increasing the terrain Mesh resolution to get rid of the pyramid hills and straight angles?

So increase mesh resolution we could have something more like this? Which is actually a screen shot from another sim in 2008

Scaled back for the hardware they are targeting? Even if you take the recommended system and not minimum, that system is 2005/2006... Surely it's time we could move on another fives years to 2011 at least? How about DX11? Why still at DX9?

Like to know the average age of user computer systems, my guess most here play other games not just AH and the average system age would be 2-3 years.

They surely can't be still targeting users with systems and dial up connections from 2005/2006

It's not as if I am talking a bout the difference of a few years, 2005 is over 8 years ago.

Targeting high end systems from 2011 when your game is a niche market devoted to the best flight model for WWII dogfighting (and some tanks and such) isn't the brilliant business plan you seem to think it is. You're thinking of Battlefield 3 or Assassin's Creed. Those are not competitors to this type of game. Even War Thunder and such aren't. The type of players that like arcade eye candy usually don't appreciate hard games.

What you target is the average performance of your loyal player base. If you can't appreciate the wisdom in that, well, prepare to stay disappointed for no real good reason.

No I'm not at all, I'm thinking 2008 like that screen shot and move away from pyramids hills, straight angles, flat terrain, flat water and blue skies.

Certainly not thinking of console generation or graphics anything like BF3 or ARMA II etc.

I'm willing to volunteer as your zen master so your fixation on pointy mountains can fade into the background and you can once again enjoy a game that really has seen a great deal of improvement over the years. (You did enjoy this game at one point [ptp] didn't you?)
