I threw this out on some other thread awhile back.  Thought I' would put it here and let it get bashed around a bit.

One of the biggest complaints is poor game play by other players.  I realize the definition of poor game play is all over the board and that will never change.  Valid or not, theres really no penalty other than getting flak on 200, PMs, or the BBS.

What if when you get killed, you get a popup that says "JohnQPlayer has killed you with a P-51B" and a check box to award 150%, 100%, or 50% perks?

This could be tracked as reputation score/points/rank.  I know we have a reputation in achievements now but that just means achievement total.

Would some score/perk related accountability promote better interaction?  Worse?

Players having the capacity to reduce another player's perks is not a good idea. Nor would the capacity to increase them be.
It's yet another window to subverting the perk system.

There are enough people who have never been shot down 'fairly' in this game according to them that putting the ability to control other peoples' scores or perks is just flat out a bad idea.

The reputation system for the Xbox is worthless as it can be easily manipulated.

Maybe a client-side preference setting: Once you land or die, you get to rate the fight(s).

Each fight would pop up for you to rate on a scale 1-5; 5 being Epic and 1 being Lame

Let's say you killed two players and then died:

Killed: JoePlayer's P-51B [1]   (skilless and easy to kill)
Killed: FrankieBoy's Brewster [3]  (pretty good fight with plenty of action)
Died: JohnnyMan's Yak-9 [5]  (white-knuckle drag out lasted 5 minutes and you need a break to recover)

You could then check player stats on the roster, much like you can now, and see their average rating points based on number of sorties flown. The higher the points, the better the fights people think they get from him.

And if the player is a poor sport? What then? His p51 gets nailed by a well flown 38G so he has a hissy fit.
Or this could become a mild farming perks easier(with/without shades)

Other wise i kinda like the idea

noe mission on a field and we can't up because we too busy rating the prior flight.  or I'm rocket vulching a field and I gotta wait for defenders to rate my style.

I think in principal it is a funny / great idea. We've got starts now for bailing out of a plane  :frown:  A 'gives a good and sporting fight' star sounds like more sense to me.

While this is an interesting idea. I find it to be easily available to abusers.

#1 Shade accounts would be the best example. You kill a shadow toon or a friend and give yourself or the friend 150%-200% perks. To make it better you fly the 2-5 eny planes and they fly the 40 eny.

#2 Gives control to the jerks.  You had a good fight, you didn't do anything wrong. They only give you 50% of the perks.

Having others dictate what your reward is, isn't what I call gameplay. They could say 50% just to be a jerk, or because YOU are the jerk, who is supposed to know?

There are some fights that I can see me giving both ends of the scale.


It's a great idea, but all in all.. it would be abused.

Safer place to let it be abused would be (.s) command.

SYSTEM:.s 1 aspen
SYSTEM: Salute Aspen GF (Great Fight)

SYSTEM:.s 2 aspen
SYSTEM: Salute Aspen NT (Next Time)

SYSTEM:.s 3 aspen
SYSTEM: Salute Aspen NWT (Not Worth the Time)

SYSTEM: .s aspen
SYSTEM: Salute Aspen

SYSTEM: .sq player ID (Squelchs player ID from sending you salutes during this active session. Players can be squelched as a price for abusing it. The squelch can only happen if and to another player who has sent a salute in your active session to you. Subsequent attempts will result in a SYSTEM message to the sender of "Player not accepting salutes at this time". No salute goes out.)

Let .rs reflect back the sender's sentiment.

Sure for awhile it will get abused. But, we know pretty much the roster of who will send everyone they fight an NWT. Then you can squelch them.

I spent five minutes in the DA today when the game eliminated my cursor (the arrow one) and I forgot that it's .ef (for end flight) and not .es (for end sortie). Maybe I need a set of old man macros wired to toggles with large legible lettering. But ... on the topic of useless but amusing dot command potential:

.vjw (adjusts vox to make player sound like John Wayne)

.vojw (adjusts vox to make other player sound like John Wayne)

.vck/.vock (adjusts vox to make self or other sound like Colonel Klink - .vss/voss ... Sergeant Shultz .... I just typed 'voss' ... eh)

.du/player name (display underwear) The person you perceive as whining will have a pair of skivvies hanging off their rudder (your end only)

 It's not a bad idea,except the perks part!  Rating a fight and adding a comment can be useful. Real Pilots kept a log!

  Years ago a player with a different name than Morf used to do this all the time,he logged the hours in the planes,logged sorties and made comments and all he needed was an old fashioned pen and little black book!,Saddly the black book didn't have any other reason to exist so it was put to use!

 I know most run film today and save them,I have never filmed in AH just kept a list of things.
