Strat Ideas

The CA has tons of potential that is going to waste right now.  It almost seems as if people only know the MA and are trying to make that fit into the CA.  I'd rather not see that happen.

The main component that's keeping that from happening right now is any resemblance of a strat system.  There needs to be a goal for everyone in the CA.  I believe that goal should be somewhat historical in nature.

If the main push of the Allies at the time was to bomb Axis factories, then that should be a goal required to win that "frame"... causing the arena to reset and move on to the next "frame".  That means fighter sweeps, escort duty, intercepts, patrols, bomber missions and so forth.  All of these things can be done by individuals or as a team.

I also think that trains/trucks should be tied into the strat system in some kind of re-supply capacity.  Especially for fields.  I'm personally quite tired of the "start the stopwatch" mentality with destroying a field and would like to see measures available to prevent that from happening.  Basically, the ability to enable trains, trucks and transports to carry supplies necessary to re-supply fields.  This can either delay or hurry field repair.  The only stipulation would be that the troops/supplies cannot come from the field they are repairing.

I'd also like to see the CVs not re-spawn.  If they get sunk, they stay down.  No more parking them 12 miles off the coast and spawning attackers.  That is so a-historical that it isn't even funny.

If we make everything possible in the CA that is possible in the MA, then we simply have 2 MAs.  Its time to put up or shut up when it comes to a historical arena.

Yes staga.. depends on what time period...

But if axis managed to defend their territory for x ammount of time they win that "frame".  Of course, it would be different for a Battle of Brittain type scenario.

Not trying to be rude here, but when have you ever expressed interest in an HA before DJ? Maybe I missed something, but I don't recall you ever being interested in one at all. Why all the sudden interest? I thought you were happy with the main arena type of gameplay. (I don't mean that in a sarcastic way)

I have always prefered historical to the MA.  I do believe the MA should be left the way it is enabling an "anything goes" environment.  Its one of the reasons I'm somewhat against "realism" arguments being attatched to that arena.  Its not the place for them.  Make the flight models as realistic as possible and let the rest work itself out.

I've been totally against a "furball" arena, because I feel furballing happens plenty in the MA.  Anyone with "i need a fight every 15 seconds" expectations is being unreasonable.

I didn't want to force the idea of an HA on HTC because there aren't really sufficient numbers to keep it going.  Spend some time in the CT right now and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.  However, since the arena has been introduced, I do have input on what direction I think it should go in.

I'd like to see more real combat situations... not scenarios.  I don't like "20 Spit 5s and 25 G-2s are to meet at x coordinates at 1500 hours" scenario scenes because I find re-enactment to be somewhat silly.  Nobody knew exactly what they were going up against in WW2... I'd like to see that reflected somewhere.  You know someone wants to bomb your toejam, you just don't know where they are going to be hitting you this time, so you must prepare for anything.

That paragraph sums up my thoughts. Agree 100%, mostly on the CV part. The trains and all that stuff will take at least until 1.08 to happen, but the CV stupid stuff can be solved in this same moment (just modify the spawn times to 9999999999999999999 minutes and see the dweebs whine  ;))

...must be a cold day in hell when I agree so much with DjV   ;)

...Or in a Med frame the goals could be somewhat reversed. Lufties protect Rommels supply convoys and bust Monties tanks while the Brits go for the ships and try to defend the tanks. Or at Midway...you get the picture, unlimited little scenarios with pre-defined simple goals.
