TrackIR5 vs TrackIR4 ?

Anyone moved from 4 to 5 - is the increased sensor resolution noticeable or just marketing hype?

I went from a TrackIR-3 to a TrackIR-5.  That was a huge difference.

ty - I only have experience with T4 though. Just wondered if it would make sense to upgrade to T5.

I think Latrobe is using 4.  He might have tried 5.

I started with 5 so  I all that I can say it works just fine.

The latest version of 5 I think forces you to run it as Administrator on W7.

Ink, I feel your pain!  Recently a player was kind enough to "give" me a TIR4.

He told me he couldn't use it and was going to toss it out but offered to send it to me to give it a try. I don't do well with change, got a new throttle about a month ago and still only have 3 buttons setup..... :o

I installed the software and gave it a try, just the interface because I need to set it up in my simpit so I haven't used it in game yet. Hopefully I'll get that done soon and actually try it ingame!   I'm hoping it will take a load off my hand because it get real sore flying.

Been reading about profiles, asking players who use it how they have theirs setup, but I think I'm going to feel like a noob for about 6 months..... :furious

And they say you cant teach an old dog new tricks......

its strange for sure....in War Thunder(thats why I was gonna go with freetrack but FLOTSOM is letting me use his Trakir4)

in War Thunder it works perfect....although I am still a complete noob with the whole idea of it..at least now I can look and see what is killing me :rofl :rofl :rofl

in AH it seems to move way to fast and is very jumpy when I am trying to fire on someone....
I have the movement speed way down 1 notch above bottom.... and I set the curves high on all axis....most shut off the roll.... it seems, but I left mine on to move around the bars....

I did get a bit dizzy in AH the first time using it, but Not War Thunder....very strange I was in War thunder for a couple hours using it...then went into AH and within a few minutes felt messed up.... :rofl....its that much more "jumpier" in AH

what really sux is my hat views on my CH fighter stick are screwed up.... now its almost imposable to get it to go to front left view....which has cost me fights...so I need to go to trackir.... :bhead :bhead

blaaaaa...I wont be using it tonight in FSO.....well I will a bit but I have a button set on my stick to pause it...and the hat view override it anyways......its definitely gonna take me some time to get used to it, I do think in the long run it will make me a better stick, my SA has always been top notch, even as a noob(the guy who showed me would sit behind me and watch me fly and every 10 seconds would be like...check 6.......check6.....check6.... check6....don't forget...check6.... :rofl :rofl)   I do think it is more fluid and natural with the trackir...so I am gonna stick to it........ :D

I've only ever had 4 with the vector clip. Never tried the Pro Clip, never tried IR5. Mainly because IR4 and vector clip works just fine, and I haven't had any need to upgrade. So I have no clue what kind of improvement 5 would bring.

I remember when I first started using TrackIR it made me a little dizzy and I sucked for a good month or two while I got used to it too.  :D Definitely a whole new learning curve to conquer when going from hat switch to TrackIR.

War Thunder is very weird with TrackIR, you have to create a whole new profile just for that game. The head movements in that game with my AH Profile were very weird, but when I used the same profile for Cliffs of Dover it worked just the same as in AH2.

The key to getting trackir set is to experiment with all he setting.  I do suggest turning off roll, y and z in the very beginning to help get you accommodated. Then add them back one at a time as you see the need for them.

I have my speed set to .3 but real steep curves.  To me this makes the view move more realistic.  Try the precision too.

If you loose the gunsight in a good fight then flatten out the center of the curves so you have kind of a dead zone.

Once you get it right when you look down the right wing as an example, your mind will be convinced you are.

Don't forget too, to have a convenient button to recenter trackir.  I think the button key is located in the "View" section on the clipboard-controlls area.
