IMO faxing is old fashioned, even with a computer.

Here's my answer for another guy a week ago:

Start your computer in Safe mode with networking. Go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/combofix/, download combofix and Rkill. First run Rkill, then Combofix. Mostly it's not necessary to send the Combofix log for analysis, the first run often does the trick especially if you can run some clean scans after that with e.g. http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/. With Eset, select Advanced options and tick the two boxes for potentially unwanted and unsafe applications.

Downloading the tools with another computer might be a good idea if you can't get to the right page even in Safe mode.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

If it's not your gaming computer and you want to be able to surf safely also in the future, install linux and forget about trying to fix windows.
