It came to theaters near Seattle, and I went to see it last week.
I liked it. It does indeed have the A5M in it as well as the A6M. It's a highly fictionalized story about Jiro Horikoshi, designer of the A5M, A6M, and J2M.
When I saw it, there were a lot of young kids in the theater. It's not really a kid movie. (For example, don't take your kids to Grave of the Fireflies. An *awesome* movie, but one of the saddest you will ever see.)
As far as Miyazaki movies go, The Wind Rises is in the middle for me, as although I like the subject matter and like Miyazaki movies in general, the pacing in it is very slow. My favorites are Porco Rosso (an awesome aviation movie), Grave of the Fireflies, Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away.
