A gun battle with Thrila in Battle of Britain, frame 3
« on: September 23, 2013, 10:35:22 AM »
As part of KG 53, on my 2nd run on Kenley, in comes Thrila, focused on me.  :uhoh

I get a couple more hits on him as he passes by and loops around for his second run, but not enough!

On his second pass, he sets one of my bombers ablaze.

Nice flying, Thrila! <S>

The last frame is next Saturday (September 28) at 3 pm Eastern in Special Events II.  All are welcome to play.  Join us for the fun and history. <S>

Shooting each other with 303s is the aerial combat equivalent of flinging lady purses at each other.

Good screenies!
Mosquito VI - twice the spitfire, four times the ENY.

My Grandma was always ready for an unannounced run on Reno and her purse was always loaded up with roles of nickles and dimes.  Lady purses HURT!!  Them old gals like to smack smart arsed kids in the back of the head with those.

Nothing clever here.  Please, move along.

The 'Battle of Britain' scenario has been great, I've enjoyed it tremendously. Whilst i understand scenarios aren't everyone's cup of tea, it's what i enjoy most out of aces high.  This scenario is how i imagined Combat Tour would have been like; with huge aerial dogfights erupting over formations of bombers. :)

<S> Brooke, it was quite a sight seeing all those bombers and escorts. Your escorts did a very good job in defending the bombers, it was a very tough frame.
Here's a film of the attack from my perspective: http://www.mediafire.com/download/o9yixoz9iccmgbd/frame_3_2nd_wave_2nd_attack_run_short_version.ahf

"Willy's gone and made another,
Something like it's elder brother-
Wing tips rounded, spinner's bigger.
Unbraced tailplane ends it's figure.
One-O-nine F is it's name-
F is for futile, not for fame."

That is you, EatG! <S>  You shouldn't apologize for a collision, first because This is War!  :aok and secondly because you can't be expected to be able to maneuver without a wing.

You guys were tenacious the whole time.  I was worried that I wouldn't make it back after a40.  Thrila shot down one of my bombers, then you and others shot the stuffing out of my other two.  By the time of the last attack, I was trying to fire at an attacking Hurricane, and no guns fired -- I was out of ammo in some guns and had dead gunners at other positions.  The last guy who did a run on me, all I could do was evade.

Here are pics of me from a past scenario where I did a run on the bomber stream, got my wing shot off, went out of control and smashed through the left wing of the lead's B-17 -- and I was glad about it!  :aok
