WIFI troubles with a laptop
« on: October 17, 2013, 02:18:52 PM »
I have a laptop with built in WiFi. It worked perfectly for months but now the WiFi only works for a few minutes after being turned on. Then it disconnects and all of the WiFi connection around disappear from the available connections. The only way to get it back is to restart the computer, which gives you about another 5 minutes of internet before its gone again. I checked the drivers and they were fully updated so I'm at a total loss here for what is wrong with it. Anyone ever experience this?

Might double check the power options for your wifi, it might be set to turn off the device after X minutes to save power.

If the laptop is new take it to garantee service. Just check that your other wifi devices do not have the same problem - the problem may be with your wifi router too.

+1 for both of the above. Adding to that, there has been issues with some wifi cards connecting to certain routers or certain security options. Try disabling the wifi security settings of your router and see if the problem goes away.

Oh, almost forgot! Thermal issues! Check the dust build-up of your cooler and the ventilation routes. Couldn't harm to reseat the wifi card, rubbing the contact stripes with a rubber.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.
