If HTC said "THIS" is the computer you need to run flat out, how many people would look at it and say "my computer is no where near that thing, I guess I won't even bother trying it". They would lose a lot of possible customers. The game is very scalable and playable to a lot of computers, but you wouldn't know that unless you tried it.

I would like an answer like that above maybe once a year but understand like you said it may deter players from playing or even trying. Once you know the minimum components to run maxed out (and when I say maxed out I mean everything turned on and a rock steady 60FPS), you can Tailor your build around that to fit your budget. HTC would not have to give all possible hardware profiles just one system setup, use the most availbale brands.

A disclaimer could be put out stating this system was only tested on AH with the current version of XXX on the date of xxxx  future updates and changes may degrade performance  etc etc ......

Do you think it would be better to build up from teh minimum equipment list and then be disappointed when a component that cost more provides no extra performance?

This is just my 2 cents and for what it's worth my game play as been very good with the systems I have used, I have never been able to run maxed out and have always wonder what the minimum would be besides the top of the line gaming machine.

Whether you think you can or cannot, you are right!

The way I've always looked at it was you build the biggest, baddest computer you can AFFORD. In some cases I held off that month or two longer just to be able to get that next step up video card. It didn't matter to me what the specs were from HTC, I did what I could.

Actually it wasn't so long ago when Skuzzy said that any computer would suffer from setting Environment Mapping on max.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

Yea. . . I would like to see a report from someone with an Ati card running AHII with a 4k monitor, AA off, and everything else on maximum; and then repeated with AA just barely on (2X).

I don't think it's possible, but that's what I'd like to see.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

Always thought it would be useful for Hi-Tech to have an equipment list to set the standards by. Like say if your running one screen it would take this video card with this motherboard and this much ram to run all settings on high and achieve a frame rate of 60fps, something to that nature.
...

There are too many permutations of all the hardware components, and then all the various software components, too.

Here's a related thread in which folks describe the performance of their own rig:

You can get a whole lot of video card for $300 to $400 nowdays.

Yep that's the sweet spot. You get really horrible value for money once you get past 400 buck price.

Yup, once you get past $400 you should seriously consider putting that money into other components. Unless your lucky enough to have no budget, which Im not. And most arent. But were at a point now where mid-level cards are awfully darn good.

Well I just ordered a GTX780. Its past my budget point but will be closer to it once I sell my 580.

My 580 has been a great card, with relatively low hours. Very few on graphics intensive games. So I'll be selling it in a week if anyone is interested.
