T They move the top slider to "faster" and the lower slider to ".5" range. I find that moving it that far down will remove the trees, but the targets as well. I set mine more like a quarter of the way up off the ".5" end. Next get use to doing everything from the commanders seat atop the tank.
Some GV's having a better zoom then others i find.
I GV all the time. I never touch my graphics settings. They are as maxed as my machine can run them and the same as when I'm flying (three miles or max vis range for the slider Fugi's referring to). I don't think most GVers do what Fugi's sugggesting. As Lusche already posted most of the German tanks and anti-tank guns have a zoom feature that increases magnification. The other GV's do not. This makes it a lot easier to see in a German GV over others. My favorite tank is the Panzer IIIF which doesn't have magnification. I never gun from the commander's position unless I'm moving and unexpectedly run across someone but even then I try to stop and get into the gun. The gunsight markings are too useful and to not use them against guys who can potentially one shot kill you is making a deadly mistake. Even without magnification you can see potential targets more clearly from the gunsight than from the commanders position at full zoom.So that smudge in the distance... yes, that might be your target depending on range. For the most part I don't find them that hard to see unless they are hidden in trees or behind a ridge or something. At extreme distance it's sometimes hard to tell what's a tank or a treetop poking over a ridgeline but again, to really be able to tell you have to be in the gunsight. As with everything else practice will get you where you need to be. Gamey trickery will not and will more than likely hurt you over time.
Don't forget to use "C" and "V" or your mouse's scroll wheel (when using mouse view) to adjust your range. Think its only available in the Panzer's, Panther, Tigers, Sherman, T34's, Jagdpanzers and Jagdpanther.
