Building a new pc question

Soon I'll be having a friend build a new pc, it will just be for AH. what are the suggestions for what is a "must". I personally don't know crap about pc's and I want it to last. With the new updates coming, it is so " over my head".

Also my monitor is dated, will that be an issue with running everything?

My goal is to build it in expensively. But to also be able to run AH at full tilt with no issues.

how long do you want it to last? ah at full tilt for more than 2 years is possible if you put the first $800 into the right components...cpu, mobo, ram, psu, graphics card.

CPU -----Intel 4770k. I-7. Should last lots of years as far as performance, top of the heap right now!

first start by setting up a budget.  it doesnt matter what should be included if you dont have the money to buy it.

Thanks guys, I'd say all told I want to stay under or around  a grand. A little over is fine but not much more. It clearly would depend on if the extra money is worth the cost. If you know what I'm saying.. I'd like to not spend an extra $$$ for a component that's just slightly better than another. Keep the thoughts rolling.

I spent about $1100, I could have done it cheaper but I wanted ASUS,,, ALSO,, I had a good case and all my hard drives,,, you can get a processor, mobo, memory, package deal for reasonable prices,, add a good power supply and a video card then your set!

If the rig is only for AH prices shouldnt be to bad, Intel parts are a bit more costly AMD are budget friendly and still pretty good. It all comes down to what do you really want?

I personally am an AMD fan so here is my opinion for a good AH machine.

Keep in mind this is without a Case, DVD drive. This is only the Primary items, DVD drive can run another $20, Case depends on what you like. The video card you could probably get the 270x and still be more then fine running AH on max settings. The 280x would last into future updates.

no it won't. ram is slow compared to the ripjaw and sniper series with the same timings. the ssd is too small. the video card is weak.

A hybrid drive?

Don't fall for them. They recently tested some of them in our pc-magazines, the result being not so flattering. The ssd part of hybrids is very small, it only helps for quick revisits of items that you've recently used and that are tiny enough to fit into it. Big files will remain completely on the regular hard drive section.
