Reminds me to some late '90s or early 2000s Aston Martin.

According to "Top Gear"(UK) we Americans don't know how to build a decent car, but then two of the three hosts own Fords  :lol

Watch the episode with the ZR1, Challenger, and Cadillac CTS V.  They hated the Challenger, but loved the other 2.  And over in the UK, try finding a car for the same price that will do what the ZR1 will do, and good luck.

Smaller engine option, even our muscle cars are turning into gas sipping wusses.
I miss commercials that always said the 0 to 60 rating ,now its always mph and no one cares about performance.

New 5.0 makes 430HP
New 2.3L I4 GTDI makes 300HP.

And the new car has an IRS, which is really the big upgrade that drove the new platform.  :salute

The new base model with the ecoboost is going to be every kids dream car for a first vehicle.  It'll be cheap compared to most cars, predictions are under 23$k, and with 300hp, compared to the 5.0 GT of my day in high school, it will have 75 more HP and more torque.  There was a 4 cyl turbo mustang back in 1985 or so, it was a neat vehicle then.  This new base model with some cheap mods will easily be in the 350 hp range, and the 14 or even high 13 second range factory, which is very impressive for a cheap new vehicle.  They will sell like hotcakes I'm betting.

Gman, that 85 turbo 4 was the svo mustang!   I drove many of them and I think it will be the option of choice for many!

The Eco4 should have a better weight bias, add in IRS and you might have a stang that turns! I see it as a tuners car also with aftermarket coolers and higher boosts who know how much power you can squeeze outta those little mills.

Ya I know no replacement for displacement but there comes a point where it's only good in a straight line.

Personally I like cars that will turn corners more than cars that will tear up the 1/4 mile but to each their own. I might just have to make a trip to test drive one of these{econobox} stangs.

This new one has the open mouth RAWR look of the original Mustang with a sleek, low to the ground sporty look... Like the original 1960s fastback mixed with modern sport technology.

I think I just had an accident in the nether regions...  :O

Bottom line performance is pretty darn good.  FWIW the 3.7L 6 from 2011-2014 is good to about 600hp on stock internals before it kabooms.  A $5k procharger and a few basic mods get you 450RWHP with better weight distribution than the 5.0.

I've enjoyed my little ecobox convertible immensely!  Exceeded expectations in all areas!
